2nd-Annual BGO Ballers Fantasy Football League

Hey - I actually did some studying and homework this year on strategy. Hopefully I fare a little better but we'll see...

I did too but I was planning on drafting 4th and not 13th. That was rough. But hey, it will be fun either way.

Honestly, when I saw you were picking first, I checked out your draft at the end and was left scratching my head. I believe you will either get demolished, or you really do know something we don't know and you'll wipe us all out.

I have my rankings, and I stuck by them. :)

Freeman - poised for a breakout season
Rice - down year last year, but will be back to beastmode this year.
Forte - Not a huge fan of this pick, but I think he'll get his fair share of touches.
Wallace - 1250 yards and & 10TDs last year; big part of Pittsburgh's transition from run-first to a pass-oriented offense. And with Ward declining...
Holmes - put up great numbers last year despite missing 4 games.
Kendricks - bit of a reach, but appeared to be Bradford's favorite target in preseason. I expect he'll get a lot of looks. Whether or not he takes advantage is another thing altogether
Starks - experts seem to agree that he will win the starting RB job in Green Bay over Grant.
Houston's D - just a hunch that Wade Phillips will be up to his old tricks making top 5 Ds out of nowhere. Especially week one against a Peyton-less Colts. :)

Again, sorry about the hiccups! I did my best...

2 minutes is not a lot of time - I always over-estimate how much thinking I can do in 2 minutes. That's how you end up with Beanie Wells (damn auto-pick!)...

Beanie Wells will be in position to succeed. Ryan Williams is out, so they are goin gto make Wells the "workhorse." Just like Forte, he'll get plenty of looks.

No worries, Lanky. 4th or 13th, this being my first time at this I am just looking to enjoy the ride.

I like your team, you did well. You stole Benson from me - he's a fantasy workhorse. McFadden was a beast until he got hurt last year also! I'll trade you Bush once he goes down again. ;)

That's OK, I had both Freeman and Knox at the top of my board and was going to make each my next pick when you took them. I think we are even. :)

I like your team a lot McD5...you got 3 different players I had targeted...

I have my rankings, and I stuck by them. :)

Freeman - poised for a breakout season
I agree, which is why I picked them to win their division.

Rice - down year last year, but will be back to beastmode this year.
Down last year, downer this year. The guy has the worst nose for the end zone of damn near any RB I've ever seen. The only advantage he has, is he is very young, and can change this. Unfortunately, the Ravens are a pass first team, Flacco is great, and they have a very good receiving corps.

Forte - Not a huge fan of this pick, but I think he'll get his fair share of touches.
One of your picks that confused me.

Wallace - 1250 yards and & 10TDs last year; big part of Pittsburgh's transition from run-first to a pass-oriented offense. And with Ward declining...
Your best pick IMO.

Holmes - put up great numbers last year despite missing 4 games.
And looking like he's afraid to put it in full gear during the preseason. Plus, there is no telling what kind of performance Plaxico will be turning in. If old Plax is back fast, Holmes is done in NY.

Kendricks - bit of a reach, but appeared to be Bradford's favorite target in preseason. I expect he'll get a lot of looks. Whether or not he takes advantage is another thing altogether
No more of a reach than if you had picked Matt Forte....oh, wait ;)

Starks - experts seem to agree that he will win the starting RB job in Green Bay over Grant.
The only thing from Green bay worth picking is QB/WR on offense.

Houston's D - just a hunch that Wade Phillips will be up to his old tricks making top 5 Ds out of nowhere. Especially week one against a Peyton-less Colts. :)
Very, very true, and I think this was a great pick as well.

On second look, it appears you are about 50/50, maybe 60/40. But if any of us could see the future, we'd be rich :D

Thanks Boone. Keep your eyes on the waiver list. One of the three you like may become available. I tend to make a lot of moves.

QB
Matt Ryan
(Atl - QB) - Matty Ice baby! He might be sitting the bench some this year in favor of Sam, depends on opponent.

WR
Brandon Marshall
(Mia - WR) - I kept hearing Marshall was a top WR in FF. I hope they are right.

WR
Danny Amendola
(StL - WR) - I stepped away for a minute and had Amendola as a priority, but wasn't sure if I wanted to pull the trigger. I like this pick, he just needs to get into the end zone a little more.

RB
Michael Turner
(Atl - RB) - Solid pick in my book. I like him better than Jones-Drew. We'll see if he can take another 13-1400 yard beating.

RB
Marshawn Lynch
(Sea - RB) - This is my sleeper. He is going to get a lot of carries with Tavaris Jackson or Charlie Whitehurst at the helm.

TE
Fred Davis
(Was - TE) - I think this is the homer in me since I am not sure how long he will get the nod over Cooley. I think this might have been a mistake, I should have taken Hernandez.

W/R/T
Steve Smith
(Car - WR) - Betweem he and Olsen, Cam is going to have no one else to throw to. I think he will do well in the 1st half of the season, I may have to pick someone else up if he struggles. I think he has a career year. He's overdue.

Sam Bradford
(StL - QB) - I believe with Josh McDaniels as the OC Bradford is putting up ridiculous numbers.

Ben Tate
(Hou - RB) - I like Ben Tate, especially since Arian Foster is nursing a hamstring injury

Antonio Brown
(Pit - WR) - He should continue to grow into Rothlisberger's go to guy.

Dustin Keller -
(NYJ - TE) - I wanted the kid from NE, Hernandez, but he was scooped up a few picks before mine.
(NYJ - TE)

Jason Snelling
(Atl - RB) - He has been a solid backup for Turner and Turner is getting some years on him. Turner was the best RB on the board when I chose my first pick other than Jones Drew, but I think JD is going to bomb this year.

Stevan Ridley
(NE - RB)

Billy Cundiff
(Bal - K)

Green Bay
(GB - DEF)

I refused to pick from the Eagles, Giants or Dallas, placing all their players in the exclude bracket. Will this hurt? Not as much as the strategy I lack from never playing FF before. I think I made a few good picks, but we'll see.

Just curious Extreme, but why did the Forte pick confuse you? Where exactly did you have him ranked? I took him as the 14 drafted RB - most websites have him ranked around the 10-12 range...

And Holmes done in NY? They just re-signed him to a huge extension.

I'm really surprised at how many good teams were drafted. With 14 in a league, the talent is usually thin. But I like every roster I have seen so far.

Yeah, me too...gonna be pretty competitive!

I like your team except for Turner. He hit the magic numbers for age and carries, and I think he'll experience a downslide this year.

That's why I took Snelling. He will step in in a moment and then I'll go out and get Dexter McCluster.

Then again, I took SJax in another league, and I'm pretty sure he hit those magic numbers as well. Its all a bunch of luck!

I noticed two things very late about the league this year:

1. This is a PPR league. WRs become more valuable, and so do RBs who can catch. This helps owners who drafted Roddy White, Santana Moss, Wes Welker(depending on his health)....and good RBs out of the backfield.

2. Defense is really discounted this year. Sure, ints and fumbles count, but total points allowed are almost a non-factor.
