Patriots’ throng of defensive linemen at practice doesn’t include Albert Haynesworth

Yeah, I alluded to that a few posts earlier. He's full of crap - he could've done that at any time. What a fat POS liar.

I hope you're right. but I don't think that is what will happen. Bellichick has handled the whole thing very differently. and Fat Al is getting his druthers: a 4-3 defense.

Maybe. But fatty was known to take naps during plays even in a 4-3. In fact, he was known to do it at Tennessee. He's a lazy fat crap and he'll do some good and do some bad. Eventually, his coach and teammates will lose all respect for him.

Sometimes what you see really is what you get. GooButt is what he is. Says here the current NE honeymoon ain't any different than the one he had here. Man is a fraud.

I'm with ya fellas! I hope he is outta the league sooner rather than later. I supported fat Al here but agree there was little honor in what the man did. I'm just interested in how the Pats handle this. they are one of the..if not the....top organizations in the NFL.

Yup, there are a lot of people who will continue to freak out and deny that Albert is playing well simply because they strongly dislike him, its been the mantra even when he was playing pretty well here, hell, even now some people try to deny that in his first year here despite being used a lot to take up double teams under blache that he played poorly or didnt get on the field enough depite the numbers telling a very different story. broken record indeed.

Seriously Ryman. You're one morose dude. :)

side note, Andre Carter is also playing very well and we look really stupid for letting him go. yay us.

While we agree on much about this defense and the mishandling of certain players, not gonna buy into this. What would you have done with Carter? Attempt to get minimal value out of him in a trade? He was not going to fit the scheme, ever and as much as you and I dislike the direction last year, the 3-4 and Haslett are here to stay. Ugh!

There are a lot of guys who look good in game 4 of the preseason. It would be a bigger story if Haynesworth DIDN'T dominate the Giants 2nd and 3rd stringers...

Om, Ive been burned too many times in the past 20 years to wear my burngundy glasses anymore. I agree I am one morose dude lol.

Mike, Of course I would prefer to be wrong and have us do very well, but It didnt happen last year and I doubt it happens this year.

El, what I would have preferred was that we didnt pull the most boneheaded move in modern coaching history, when these guys play well somewhere else while we are not playing well, all it does is make me even more angry. especially as Carter was a great redskin, not even factoring the misuse of fat albert, that alone makes me angry and yes I have said so before. I agree this aborted mission is here to saty, as long as the current coaching regime, is, and frankly if we dont see massive turnaround this season I will be calling for heads. giving someone 3 offseasons is more than enough patience contrary to popular belief, it doesnt take 5 seasons to turn a team around even one that was as damaged as this.

"The most boneheaded move in modern coaching history."

Hyperbole, much?

There's a big difference between "wearing burgundy glasses" as you put it (which I assume to you means blind to your reality) and staking out such extreme positions as you have, brother Ryman. It's gotten hard to tell when you are trying to make a real point versus when you're just blowing off steam. Can't even imagine how you'd be right now if the Skins hadn't just turned in the most promising offseason in memory.

Anyway, the appetizer is done....bring on the main course.

I think Ryman might be a bit too passionate, but he's got a point. It just didn't make sense last year. Even when Parcells made the change in Dallas knew he had to gradually transition while he got the players to fit the scheme.

And as far as boneheaded coaching moves, I refer you to Jim Zorn and the...well, I just refer you to Jim Zorn!

Zorn & Spurrier together created at least 100 more boneheaded moments in coaching than Shanahan & Haslett did (even if I concede that it was boneheaded, which I still disagree with). Its a ridiculous statement, and has zero merit. :)

And with that, I'm done with this discussion - its been beaten to death (where's Ax and his dead horses now? j/k j/k) and I"m over it. We're running a 3-4 now, and that's the bottom line.

Lanky, thats a very good point, it is preseason, so getting excited about how fatty plays or doesnt play isnt very smart. I would suggest we all wait until the end of this season, and whichever of us is correct at that point can make a brag thread.

Om, there is no sense in sitting the fence, I either believe something, or I do not lol. yeah sometimes im blowing off steam, but quite often I just get fed up at some extremely stupid moves made by people who are paid not to do things like that.

I agree that this was an extremely promising offseason, it could have been better and more importantly it could have been last year but it is wwhat it is.

Lanky, not hyperbole at all, the stats back my assertion.

Elephant, Zorn was in over his head and should never have been a head coach or OC. he is a QB coach and a very good one, there is nothing wrong with that. however despite some huge gaffes, its funny that a rookie HC like him didnt make as massive a misstep as changing the entire D based on watching a couple playoff games.

Mike-Not one of those was a coaching decision Mike, those were management decisions, a very different animal, find one occasion where a team so massive screwed the pooch on a coaching decision.

(where's Ax and his dead horses now? j/k j/k) and I"m over it.
Hey Brother, you ever tried to get somewhere in a hurry riding dead horses?

I have agreed that making the switch, when we did it, was a mistake of monumental proportions. (Yes, I hyperbole much) Most likely in one of the first threads concerning the move. You know, 12,694 threads ago. I have agreed with many of the opinions shared by Brother Ryman about the timing, and shortcomings of the move.

However, unlike Brother Ryman, I don't choose to be a One Trick Pony, by beating that Dead Horse. Over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, etc...

But then again, there is something comforting about his consistency on the matter. He's predictable.

I'm also able to find comfort in the fact that, since the 3-4 is here to stay, for the foreseeable future, we now have a bunch of guys with a year of it under their belt. More guys that are better suited for it. And even more guys that will be learning their first and only defense in the pros.

From lemons, cometh lemonade. Not koolaid, Brother Ryman.
Lemonade.

BTW, if coaching decisions of brilliance are so readily available to you, and their ultimate goals so easily attainable, then "the most boneheaded move in modern coaching history" is your epic failure of not being the winningest head coach in pro football history.

Slacker.;)

what about ditka trading us everything for ricky williams even though ricky

That's the one I was thinking of. At least Albert had a history of dominance in the NFL. I hated the move when we made it, hated the price tag worse, but you could understand why they got bamboozled like that.

I think all things considered it's probably in the top ten of worst free agent decisions ever... it might even be number 1 considering the price tag, but we're probably missing on a few.
