Confirmed Signings

I'm not sure we 'win' if we keep Buchanon and let Rogers walk? I'm a little tired of Hands of Stone's act, no doubt about it - but he's in the top 4th talent-wise among NFL CBs. If Haslett could get him to play to his potential, he could be very good. That's Haslett's job. I'd also be fine letting them both walk and working on their eventual replacements.

From what I understand, it is not about the talent that Carlos possesses. For the most part, it is his attitude and that caused some divisions with the team. Yes, the AH situation was much more dramatic, but it sounds like the organization is trying to avoid the situations that have plagued this team in recent years.

Apparently we're getting another LB.

"Rich_Campbell FYI... RT @freepwolverines: Former U of Michigan LB Obi Ezeh will sign with the Washington Redskins, his agent said today"

I think if that were the case, he'd be signed. There must be something that prevents all these GMs from running and grabbing him. Good corners are always in demand.

(unless you meant what you said and believe he's really in the top 1/4 of quarterbacks) ;)

I think he's got some 'knucklehead' and 'diva' in him - and that this coaching staff has very little patience for any more of that. I support getting rid of guys who create distractions, or don't buy-in 100%, don't get me wrong. I also think he's, physically, capable of being a Pro Bowler - he just hasn't reached his potential and probably never will. My issue is more with viewing Buchanon as an acceptable part of the solution. I just don't see it.

Then again, Rome wasn't re-built in a day :)

Yeah, but's been twenty years. Isn't that long enough to build a new empire!!!

An update:

The Bradshaw thing is now being viewed as a tactic by Rosenhaus to motivate the Giants.

Rogers and Buchanon don't fit the same roles.

We would be bringing back Buchanon to be the #3 corner.

Rogers would be brought back at far higher dollars to be a starter.

After signing Josh Wilson we really don't need Rogers, at least not the type of ball player Rogers is.

Remember Rogers crowing about free agency and 'liking to play the Redskins twice if he were to leave'? Remember Rogers talking about all the money he thinks he's owed for his talent?

There is no way Shanahan means what he says and brings back Rogers, not unless Rogers does a mea culpa and then keeps his mouth shut.

I liked the idea of Carlos Rogers being an 'ex-Redskin'.

We have had the best of him. At 29, anyone paying him now would be getting Carlos on the downside of his career.

I was super high on Buchanon when he came out of college. He never developed into the corner I had hoped for through his career, but was happy to get him when we did. He's nothing special, but serviceable for the time being.

Don't know if Rogers has burned one too many bridges, but I wouldn't object to him being here. Portis was able to get away with the "diva" and "knucklehead" routine due to his "star" quality, but Rogers is just a twinkle in comparison. I guess we'll see soon enough.

I generally agree. Rogers gone is more 'addition by subtraction'. And I think the Portis comparison is a good one, although as you said Pete, Rogers has never approached the 'star' status CP had, and his general effort on the field never came close to Clinton's.

Too bad. In 2007 Rogers started out of the gate like a thoroughbred, had an INT with a 60+ yard return for a TD, looked like it might be a breakout year for him and then he got hurt and went out for the season. He never recaptured that spark. Or didn't want to.

I won't miss him.

Braylon Edwards to DC is the hot rumor on the twitter-sphere right now. Maybe we're lining up with 9 WRs and a center/QB combo this year :)

O-line?

We don' need no stinkin' O-line!

Channing Crowder could be a target sometime soon.

Almost sounds like a seafood dish.

Brandt saying we were pursuing Barnett, but he chose Buffalo. First I've heard of it!

I hope the Skins aren't less attractive to play for than the Bills.

According to the Packer fans, Barnett has a bit of an "ego" problem-kinda like Carlos.

Buchanon about to announce Skins or Jets. Please say Jets!

It will probably be the Redskins - Cromartie is likely to return to the Jets.
