With the Lakers having this much trouble with the Hornets I can't wait to see them against OKC.

That's if the Lakers make it that far.

This series getting stretched out is about the worst thing that could have happened for the Lakers. Kobe needs rest, especially with turning his ankle last night. The Thunder may just run all over them. Having said that, curiously, I think the Grizzlies are a worse matchup for the Thunder than the Spurs. If the Grizzlies knock off the Spurs, I think they could give the Thunder trouble.

Oh, and Blazers/Lakers would be a blast!

The Lakers are struggling with the Hornets because they have no one that can stay in front of CP3.

And Phil's refusal to stop the switching on D that puts Pau or Bynum guarding CP3 one on one is pretty dumb for the supposed "greatest coach of all time".

theyre playing pretty tuff but the lake show are playing down to them.

Interesting that I've heard a lot of Redskins fans saying this about the Lakers.

Interesting, only because when superior teams lose to the Redskins during the season and the opposing fans say the same thing, Redskins fans jump their **** and say why can't you just admit we beat you, we outplayed/outsmarted you, etc.

I'm not an NBA fan by any stretch. I have loosely followed the Celtics since the Bird days, so I love watching the Lakers struggle. Especially since I hate Kobe

while I agree that he needs to figure out CP3 calling out his coaching for whatever reason is just silly. he IS the best of all time and has the hardware to prove it.

Chris Paul is eating him up on HIS defensive rotation of allowing Pau or Bynum to switch onto him and guard him one on one.

So big a mismatch that even guys like Tim Legler and Wilbon can see it.

Phil's not above critique. It's been going on for 4 games and there's been no adjustment.

And BTW, Red is better than Phil.

Chris Paul is a beast. and while Phil needs to do a better job on D you are acting like Chris doesnt do this to most teams.

If Phil was any good, he wouldn't have had to leave Chicago. He'd have stayed and rebuilt them into a power again.

But then again, Phil doesn't know how to do that so he cherry picks a ready made team, like LA.

Gee, that's really hard.

Last I looked, Auerbach has 16 rings to his name, so tell Phil to hang in there.

Maybe he'll go to Miami next, cause with Kobe getting old, he won't want to stay there.

And Chris Paul does what he's doing to LA because of the switching and because Fish and Kobe can't stay with him anymore.

Chicago got rid of everybody, they were completely stupid to do it too. Whether you were a Bulls fan or not, watching the Bulls in the 90's was fun. It was the only time in my life I was ever a real fan of the NBA.

cherry pick? LA was a joke when he got there..Kobe was just a high leaper with a big ego and not as much talent. He is the reason Shaq decided to come to LA. He is the reason that Kobe's ego took a back seat to Shaq's dominance and became the player he is today.

Didn't the Lakers win over 60 games just prior to Phil getting there? And 50 or more for many years prior to that? Don't see how they were a joke.

Also, I thought Kobe was a rookie or second year guy when Shaq went there. Makes it hard to believe he would go to a different team because of a young player, regardless of hype.

Without the Shaq years, Phil Jackson might not have lasted in LA. I personally think he's a great coach, not knocking him at all. But for anyone to say Shaq wasn't largely responsible for those 3 championships is absurd.

FTR, I don't recall Kobe's ego ever taking a back seat to anyone or anything. He seems to have calmed down a little with age, but his ego was a huge part of why Shaq wanted out of LA.

16 rings? how far back are you trying to go here? The NBA wasnt even as close to as talented as it is now.

I don't know exactly what era you're referencing here, but the talent of the 8's a 90's was way better than it is now. That era was filled with legends, this era has been filled with a bunch of average to above average players, but maybe 1 or 2 legends.

The league as a whole may have better talent, but there really is no way to judge. You still have the same few times dominating, and the same ****ty teams almost always still suck.

The only reason it seems like there are more superstars now, is because more players have access to media outlets and internet, and they market themselves more heavily now. Guys back in the day used to be about winning, guys today are worried about making a name for themselves.

Chris Paul schools every team like that because of LA not switching..yeah, thats it. that logic isnt even worth defending right there.

I actually agree with you here, I don't get the CP hate.

You know, you're right - on the google point. According to google, they won 61, not 53. The year they won 53, Phil Jackson was working on his 4th of 6 championships with the Bulls. Since he won 2 more with the Bulls after that, and there was a lockout shortened season afterward, I don't see how the 53 win season would be considered being just prior to Jackson's arrival.

You just backed up what I said. Kobe’s ego was a problem. Kobe created the rivalry because he hated being #2, because of his ego. He wanted to prove he could do it without Shaq – because of his ego. I don’t see where we’re disagreeing that Kobe has an ego problem.

I never said Red was in the 80’s. I was pointing out how you said there is more talent now than there ever has been, and I disagreed and pointed out why I disagree.

The internet has nothing to do with that, because you misinterpreted what I was saying about the talent pool. I was saying that there aren’t more superstars no like you claimed, than there were in the era I mentioned. All of the “superstars” of today aren’t all superstars, there are very few. The point I was making is that without the internet nowadays, and 24 hour access to all media, there wouldn’t be all the self created hype that makes people think todays players are superior to players of the past.

Yes. I would take Dwight easily over Rose. While their offensive stats are very similiar, Dwight is also the best defensive player in the game. Rose can't come close to that.

The defensive argument is true, but in the true definition of MVP, Rose should get it easily. Without Rose, the Bulls would have been a losing team. Without Howard, the Magic still have the talent to possibly be a playoff team.

I'm gonna jump in here and shock McD by defending Howard. If Howard isn't on the team, there is no way in hell Orlando makes the playoffs. None. Unless a meteor knocks out half the Eastern Conference teams and a few of the non-playoff teams as well. As you can see in this series, Orlando has surrounded Dwight with a bunch of streak shooters, when they're on (last night), they are next to unstoppable. When they are missing, the Hawks win three games. Without Dwight in the middle, they are lucky to win 20 games.

Having said that, there is something... intangible (?) about Rose this year. I can't put my finger on it. With Noah and Boozer missing substantial parts of the season, the Bulls didn't miss a beat. He has been superlative this year, absolutely amazing. People can knock on his shooting in the playoffs, but that is because they are asking him to take the tough shots. The Magic at least surrounded Dwight with shooters. The Bulls surrounded Rose with marginal shooter/slashers.

Absolutely incredible games tonight. These are the best playoffs in a longggg time.

I am leaving for Vegas for the weekend. So I'll miss most of tomorrow night's Magic game while stuck on an airplane, and likely won't be posting again until Sunday night.

Have a great next few days everyone, and go Magic! I want the Bulls badly.

My God, the ending of regulation of the Spurs/Grizlies game was fantastic. UN-frickin'-believable. You nailed it McD, great playoffs so far.
