The 2026 Free Agency Thread

Funny, I don't recall him having character concerns. Concerns were mostly over separation against tight man or bump coverage

I don't recall it either but Scot said it for what its worth. I found it interesting that he vouched for Peters the personality but not the evaluator -- tough to say for sure what he meant but considering he said he knew him it makes me wonder if he questions him on that front.

I think the best thing Peters could do would be to sign Diggs immediately and put all of the Aiyuk nonsense to rest.
Whilst he shouldn’t usually discuss players contracted to other teams, I think Aiyuk has trolled enough nonsense about us whereby AP or someone else in the Org has the right to publicly distance us from him. Stop the noise.

locals still think they sign him?

Scot McCloughan was the dude who bought into Sua Cravens. If Scot knew that Brandon Aiyuk had personality problems before Aiyuk started openly posting about it on social media, it must have been unspeakably bad in college.

Changed things.......dudes been a basket case going back to last year. I can't believe the amount of people that were clamoring for this train wreck.
Up until this last video I always considered him SF's problem. All his shots were directed at them, for the purpose of obtaining his release. He his also barely 28 and still in his prime, I figured he could very well get here, behave, and put up 900 yards. No guarantee obviously but the classic low risk/high return gamble.

Let us not forget that every team Diggs has played for decided to move on from him despite very good production. I certainly have not, he was a pain in the ass in Buffalo and in Minnesota and people just want to ignore that. And he is a 1 year rental and they will be in the same position next offseason. But now after this they really don't have a lot of other options.

I think that is the remaining question I and a lot of others have with Aiyuk. Is this just him making the bad decision to express his frustration publicly and he will revert back to "normal-enough football player" once he is officially gone from the 49ers or is the media circus attached to Aiyuk from here on out for the time being where every time a microphone is in front of him the objective will be to push him just enough to go off on someone/something. I can only imagine the media circus being on hyperdrive going into the MNF game should he still end up signing here.

this could just be some weird troll by BA with a little assist from JD5...but I still wouldn't want BA even if it was. don't need him pulling jayden into stupid shit like this.

The saga continues...

If this is true it seems like Jayden is over it, which pretty much seals the deal that Aiyuk ain't coming here.

Would have been great to add a 1000yd. receiver for peanuts, but it just wasn't meant to be.

That's a paraody site on twitter, that makes up stuff to goof on various football related things, the same site had this

Benjamin Allbright is very confidently saying that this social media “beef” isn’t real, they’re messing with people. He’s right a lot. But I just don’t see Daniels partaking in this sort of shit

If they were making this up, for whatever reason: trolling, to set aside possible tampering issues, etc., it’s not a great strategy for Jayden and would start to make many question where his mind is.

So, I’d tend to disagree with Allbright.

Agreed. I'm hoping Albright is talking out his butt. Otherwise it's a bad look for Jayden and in turn, the Commanders

Was it distinct that Scott avoided commenting on APs evaluating prowess or was it more subjective?

AP certainly has not "lit up" his drafting so far. Remember how enthusiastic the nation was immediately following the 2024 draft? That incredible feel has never really returned and most of those players have yet to blossom as expected. I am going some of that was the coaching and will change with the two new coordinators. Otherwise, I wouldn't vouch for AP's the evaluator either

I just read in an article were Scot says:
"At Arizona State, he got in trouble there, too. Herm Edwards was the coach, and I knew Herm very well, and he's like, 'Listen, he's a wildcard. We don't know if he's going to show up. We don't know if he's gonna do anything, or he might come and have the best day of his career.'"

If true I would think Edwards would have been asked about this since he was Jayden and BA's coach there. All I have heard and read about BA over the past few months, prior to the recent craziness was very positive as BA the person and teammate. Very strange but at this point, I'd distancing myself and the team from him

I find this entire situation utterly fascinating. As humans we are all self-considered psychology experts based solely upon the observed (and sometimes even perceived) behaviors of others. The public behavior exhibited by Brandon Aiyuk is certainly suspect and, therefore, due all of the scrutiny that it has been receiving.

What we have all witnessed is absolutely concerning behavior but we still don’t know what we don’t know. It may indeed be an Antonio Brown level of behavior and concern, it may not be. Before I would make any level of financial or ‘good for the organization’ decision regarding his potential I would have to conduct some very serious and comprehensive due diligence. I trust that Josh Harris, Adam Peters, and Dan Quinn are smart enough to do all of that the moment they are legally allowed to.

Sheehan asked him what he thought about Quinn and he was very complementary, then he asked if he knew Peters, and Scot said he did, great dude but he can't vouch for him as an evaluator.

Not me. Not worth it. Move forward without. When it looks like a duck and quack likes a duck…
