The 2026 Draft Thread - Day 2

Personally would love to go center at 71. WR is a need, but like you im very nervous about Alegretti.
Yep, think we will turn to the geezers in free agency to fill out at wide receiver 2, although there is a chance on Day 3 to get a developmental WR that actually plays the position and isn't just a special teamer like McCaffrey and Lane.

Aiyuk will be here. It is just a matter of time. Adding Aiyuk and another vet would set the WR room fine this year. Pretty deep draft at WR next year. Hopefully we are no where near the record needed to get Jeremiah Smith. But he isnt the only great WR prospect in next years draft.

So, does Washington get permission from SF to renegotiate Aiyuk's deal in exchange for a 2027 late pick?

No one is going to trade for him if the September roster bonus of $25M isn't taken away.

At 71, I want a center, guard, or corner. Maybe a free safety. Randall is a late round pick and more of a luxury. We still have real needs

And yet you didn’t list one of the absolute biggest needs on the team.

There was a good chance we would have taken Delane, yes. He was the guy I wanted.

I’m happy with Styles though. He is a freak athlete, had an insane combine. I like that he is a converted safety too, should be versatile and good in coverage, and he seems to have a great attitude.

Titans and Chiefs may have done us a favor by taking Tate and Delane off the board. While we didn’t get our biggest need position, we probably got a better player.

My list for tonight….

Jake Slaughter C
Germie Bernard WR
Eli Sarratt WR
Malachi Fields WR
Dani Dennis-Sutton ED
Domonique Orange DT
Sam Hecht C

I’m torn about the receivers. Totally understand why a lot of you want to pass on them rather than take yet another stab at a mid round pick. But at the same time I feel like we shouldn’t give up on the idea and should keep throwing darts at it even if the previous throws didn’t hit the bull’s-eye.

I've spoken about it many times. Unless one miracle player slips, Id rather try free agency instead of taking another Lane or McCaffrey which I feel will only probably be left in this draft.

I'm not going to force pick a position if the talent is there. If the BPA is clearly better than any position I named then I will probably want the BPA. If close, even if he's slightly less, I will probably go with need in the 3rd and later

If say a 3rd rounder corner adds more value than a 3rd round receiver, unless we somehow nail a day one starter at WR. You confident based on the last 2 years?

You guys are absolutely killing me. There are SEVERAL receivers on the board that would be damned close to BPA at 71 if they fall there. Will they? Who knows. But the corners, safeties, guards, centers, and everything else may not either. This is such a wide gap between now and our pick.

I don’t get how you can lock in on positions, leave the one with our biggest need out, and assume that the other positions high end players will be there but not the receivers.

It’s almost like you guys really don’t think we need receivers.

Which… fine.

It’s not a thought that computes in my head but… fine.

I think it really depends which players at WR + CB we’re comparing, tough to know 39 picks away or whatever.

Watching the board shrink as we go is going to be excruciating

I would guess the odds of getting a day one starter out of a third round WR pick are pretty low. Probably need more than a couple tries at it before you should expect to have hit on one. We should absolutely consider taking one at 71. Hopefully third times a charm.

That is kind of the case everywhere. I do agree we can probably get a starter at center - but we just cut a guy for Allegretti so I’m not sure if they would or not.

Gotta look at the board and take the guy nearest the top that makes the most sense

Hopefully we can at least get a guy like Jamison Crowder who was a #4 pick and came in and provided some depth as the #3 receiver early on.

I would like to see an outside receiver rather than a slot this time around - a developmental player that can at least come in and make some catches if there are injuries.

Receiver is our biggest need but I am not as high as most of the guys who I think will be there as you are. That's why I left the door open for a miracle player but I believe there will probably be guys closer to Luke and Lane than possible difference makers like Terry.

You sound like you just want to address the issue through the draft by any means and I feel like that's how you start reaching for guys you know aren't that good just for a position of need, which is only setting yourself up for failureI.

I didn't list our only positions of need. That's how you took it. Everyone else has seen my stance on this from the jump. We already have Luke, Lane, Dyami, Burks, etc. If they don't have the potential to be any better than them then I don't want them

But after we cut him we went hard after Lindy the moment tamper time opened.

I would think WR and DB need to be priority
