Allegretti starting is concerning to me. He has never been able to nail down a starting job in the NFL and he is 28/29 years old.

After playing in the Super Bowl with KC the Chiefs had no problem letting him walk in free agency, they never offered him a contract.

So, my tummy isn't warm that Nick is our first line of defense in front of Jayden.

Unlike someone like Scherff though, Mauigoa can probably also play RT. Maybe their plan is to move him there as Eluemenor fades
 
True, but I saw greater value in some of the players that went after Mauigoa. #10 overall to me is still the territory you are looking at a guy that can play LT in the NFL or you go to another position.

Once again Roseman played the chessboard the right way - he needed a WR and got Lemon who was rated at #12-13 and got him at #20.

This guy does things the right way - he amasses 4 third round picks and then can move up to grab guys that fall.

Playing chess while others are still trying to find their ******.
 
I think we'll have a good opportunity to get more picks at 71 via trade back if we wanted to. But then again, it all depends on who is available at 71 and if Peters and Co would like more picks Vs how much they like the player they want at that spot. Peters has shown he can pick a player at the spot instead of accumulating picks. I really don't care if we don't have 2nd rounder because it brought a solid player in Tunsil. I loved the Styles pick as well.
 
Looking at Drafttek list of available players, these are the ones left until our pick. BTW I really like how they track these Vs how they ranked their players.

Needless to say there will be players available and overdrafted after. We may see Peters and Co seeing a good value where they pick Vs a trade down.

We need more picks. If we move down around 7 to 10 spots in the 3rd round, I still think we can land an impact WR, pick up a 4th round pick which we need to go along with our 5th, two 6ths and our 7th.

But at that point of the draft we have draft 'dilution', ie the talent base gets thinner and thinner and the players have significantly less chance to coming in and making it in the NFL.

The sweet spot of the draft is Rounds 2 and 3 because there are legitimate talents there that projected to be taken earlier and fell for one reason or another, which may not be practical or real long-term.

I would not trade down from #71.

If anything I would give up the #5 and a mid next year to move up.

Igbinosun (coached by William Gay at senior bowl, pro day mtg)

Safety:
Wheatley (coached by William Gay at senior bowl, team and local pro days)
Kilgore (lots of meetings)
Worth noting they had a lot of meetings with Fitzgerald and Huskey, but they look like projected 6th/7th rounders. Could just be insurance if they don’t get ‘their guy’ at 71

OL
Dunker (coached by Stapleton at senior bowl, pro day)
I’d add Hecht (coached by Stapleton at senior bowl), but I don’t see any other reported meetings with him

Receiver
Skyler Bell (high RAS, though no reported meetings)
Chris Brazzell (30 visit) (couldn’t find a RAS for some reason?)
Hurst (team pro day, senior bowl)… probably gone by 71?
Stribling (team pro day, zoom)… probably gone by 71?
Interestingly, no reported meetings with Sarratt, Bernard, or Chris Bell

Raridon is a possibility (meetings at east-west shrine and team pro day, and formal combine mtg)

Would you be willing to trade our third at 71 spot and change for lower 2 3rds? I think this is where things really get interesting. We have multiple teams with multiple 3rds and we have seen JAX not afraid to make a bold trade, especially when they didn't have 1st this year. There is also MIA there as well.

Yep, it’s scary. I can only take comfort in knowing that they had to lose some good players to get all those comp picks. Hopefully in a couple years we can get to the point where we have extra draft capital in our pocket to play with every year.

I know we are keeping him but I think Roseman would have dealt Daron Payne for a draft pick and used it tonight.

Yeah, probably. Depends on what if anything was being offered. I’m guessing it wasn’t very much. But also could let him play out the contract and try to get another comp pick. Maybe we can get that comp pick next year if he has a good year and somebody signs him to a nice deal in free agency.

We were much higher on JCM last year than other teams and we were patient and took him in the 7th. It was reported after that we had a 3rd-4th round grade on him at worst but we knew he’d be available

I suspect this will be similar.

Personally would love to go center at 71. WR is a need, but like you im very nervous about Alegretti.
