We can continue to discuss draft details in the 3 designated threads already out there, but I wanted to see who our BGO consensus pick is at #7?

Obviously, you can also factor in that you think they will be available at that #7 spot.

I can’t answer until FA occurs.

My top 5 at this moment (in alphabetical order) is Bailey. Downs, Love, Styles, Tate.

If Arvell Reese is there, I'm going to need a new pair of shorts.

Focusing more on who I think will be there, and what they do in free agency, I think my board would go:

Styles
Love
Downs
Tate

if we sign Devon Lloyd, I don't know we'd take Styles. Love is a possibility because we haven't been linked to any of the top backs in FA, I don't consider White or Allegier top backs, more complementary. Downs would be a great get, unless the knee issue is real. Tate would be in play if we don't sign a top WR, he might even be higher as a Terry replacement in a year or 2.

Situation fluid.

I am voting based on the now. In a few days, it might be very different.

But…

Jeremiyah Love is the single biggest difference maker in this draft class. Him.

Next, on a personal level it’s some ordering of Styles, Reese, Bain

After that it’s Tate and Downs.

After that - no thanks.

There is depth at S in the draft, Boone. I really like Downs and Bailey and chose Bailey. A quality safety like Bud Clark, Cole Wisniewski or Bishop Fitzgerald can be had on Day 3 in the 4th (if we acquire one) or 5th.

Might as well have waited a few days to make this since we are so close to free agency and then will know what our leftover needs are

I picked Downs just based on how I think FA will unfold. That’s also if we stay put at 7. I think if Love gets gets to us we trade with KC and probably still get Downs. This will piss KDawg off immensely 🤣. At least Love will be in the AFC.

I’m not sure it’ll piss me off. Lots of factors involved. But I wouldn’t LOVE it.

You can change your vote if you need to

My gut is they draft Downs at 7, and while he's not my top choice, I love the player so I'd dig it.

I voted for Love. If Styles falls I'd take him but I don't expect him to fall to 7. Ditto Bailey. Before taking Love.

But am guessing there is at least a 50% shot its between Love, Tate, Downs. All three I'd be thrilled with. It's Love by a hair over Tate and then Downs.

I choose Tate but my first pick if he’s there is definitely Love (but I don’t think he’ll be there still at 7) both of these guys fill a huge hole for this team and if Love were the guy is day 1 a game changer and something this franchise hasn’t had at the RB position since maybe Clinton Portis… Alfred Morris was a great back but was he truly a game changer? Love is so dynamic.

I'd prefer a defensive player, but Tate would offer the best combo of BPA and need.

I think it’s going to be Bain.

I know the reporting that teams aren’t going to care about the measurables, but just wait until they get back and have 2 months to obsess over it.

Teams are going to talk themselves out of Bain. I think that’s going to push Down and Love up.

I get there are some measurables on Downs which aren’t terrific. But my gut tells me he goes in the top 6, Love gets pushed up.

This is the weirdest draft that I can ever remember. I really wouldn't be surprised with who we pick. I think that we could pick just about anyone at almost every position. I guess that will change after free agency but as of right now, it is truly wide open which is insane

It sounds cliche but this draft more than any. BPA at 7.

If that's a RB, S, LB, WR, DE it's all good. Heck, if you could make the argument that a guard was the best player by a good margin I'd be okay with guard. Basically, any position but punt protector, T, or QB. People have said this is a weak draft and one without elite "can't miss" blue chip talent. If so, grab the best you can and don't worry about the traditional value chart.

The reason is all the best players in the draft play non-premium positions.

You could argue the three best players in the draft are Downs, Styles and Love.

QB is underwhelming except for one player, there aren’t great OT’s and the edge rushers have issues.

which is why it’s so wide open.

There is elite blue chip talent.

Love and Styles. They check every single box there is to check.

I personally think Mendoza is, too. He’s just a gamer. When the game is on the line he’ll make the play needed. He may not throw for 300 hundred a game, but he’ll move the chains and have solid QB stats. And they have Jeanty. And a safety blanket in Bowers.

Downs would be blue chip, but the physical stuff is a little under that threshold. But he’s close.

There isn’t blue chip talent in premium positions, though. And I think that may be what you meant.
