If Love is there, I think that means Downs is not, and vice versa.

So in that case, you’re probably choosing between Love and a DE.

I guess it’s possible 3 DE’s + Styles could go in a row, which would make Love, Tate and Downs all available, I just don’t see it.

It’s possible that neither are there, and if that’s they case, Tate and a DE is there.

If it’s Downs vs. Tate, in a vacuum I’d take the WR, both because we need one and position value and all that. However if Downs is clearly the better player on the board and they think he has potential Troy Polumalu potential, then you pick him and move on.

I personally think Tate’s ceiling is Terry.

If Tate’s ceiling was Justin Jefferson, it’s an absolute no brainer. But I don’t think it is.

To me the “worst case scenario” would be Love, Downs and styles are all gone, which means you’re picking your favorite DE or Tate and that wouldn’t. E terrible either.

Take Downs if he is there. Then take a running back at #71.

If not move back and take a WR2 and pick up extra picks in Round 2 and 4 to add to #71 then acquire depth at RB, S, DL, not in any specific order.

I think it will be fascinating to see what they do at #7 because they are almost certainly going to be faced with a tough choice. What if Love and Styles are there? What if it's Downs and Love? Tate, Downs, and Love, hell - even if it's Downs and Styles still on the board...

I don't envy them having to make that call. 3 or 4 seasons from now, the entire world will know if we hit it out of the park or screwed the pooch. There is a reason why NFL GMs are highly paid and why they seldom have complete job security.

If Love is there, even with all those other players on the board, I think you have to take him. Will be an immediate upgrade to the offense and give Jayden that running threat (besides himself) that we have been sorely missing for years.

I’ve been saying Love, Tate, Styles and Downs for awhile….but some doubt has crept in on Downs and I fear the other three will be gone. If it’s just Downs I’m starting to wonder if Delane would be the better pick.

Not just a running threat. Love is also a big time receiving threat. And a good pass protector. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get 700 receiving his rookie year.

Hard to argue. I guess the only argument against a guy like Love is the historical one - based on position and length of NFL careers at RB. But if he is as advertised, he would be very hard to argue against, especially given 90% of our offseason focus prior to that was on upgrading the defense.

I think he will be gone by the time pick 7 rolls around.

The great thing about Washington's free agency is they can pretty much go any direction with the #7 pick.

DE, WR, LB, DB, RB, trade down.

It's wide open.

The only player that I have concerns about among the most talked about prospects is Tate. At #7 I want a difference maker and I see Tate as more of a potential positional difference maker for this team (due to the existing roster) than a institutional one. At #7 I want a potential blue chip elite player and I just don’t see him as that.

I have no idea on Tate (in terms of whether he is worthy of being taken there), but yeah, if they take him at #7 there is always the concern that 'need' crept into the equation which obviously isn't ideal.

I am not an avid enough watcher of CFB to make an educated guess on who to take at #7, but my general stance on picking in the Top 10 is that unless it is a really weak year for the draft, you should be aiming for a blue chip difference maker player regardless of position. That is the value you should be aiming for when picking that high. If it gets to your turn on the board and you don't think that level of talent is still there, then you need to be open to picking up the phone and trading back rather than drafting someone you have doubts about but are hopeful of that can get to that level. Every GM has their misses, but inside the Top 10, you should have a good idea, borderline consensus with your team of scouts that you are about to draft a difference maker.

1. Downs still for me (future QB of our defense potential)
2. Love (the thought of him in the backfield with JD5 is just something dreams are made of, Jayden has never had an elite back)
3. Styles

I know we need a replacement for Terry but we still have him for this season and there are about 5-6 WRs in next years draft that I think will have more of an instant impact than any WR from this draft.

It’s impossible to judge a draft a year out. I had this argument with a poster a while back.

It’s hard enough to figure out the current draft. Figuring out a future draft is impossible.

Sam Howell was a projected #1 overall pick a year before he went in the 5th round.

Why is everyone talking about Terry as though he is going to walk after this season. Didn’t we extend his contract until 2029?

His cap number jumps from 18m in ‘26 to 34m in ‘27. (39.5m in ‘28). Without some contract manipulation to rework that load those numbers are large for a WR that will be 32+ years old.

Not going to happen but I’d love to do something like #7 for Dallas Turner and #17

I think the Giant know they messed up with Saquon, so I see them taking Love with Cam coming back from injury.......if Love is there at #7, take him and don't think twice. If he isn't,,give me Downs, we haven't had a good Safety in a long time. #Hail

Schoen may think that, but Harbaugh wasn't there, and I imagine Harbaugh is going to be a huge part of the roster construction. Harbaugh's most successful teams are centered around premium Safety play. It wouldn't surprise me if Downs was on the absolute top of their board.
