Random Thoughts

Happy hour starts in 5 minutes
We're getting real snow...which is gonna freeze, cuz temps won't get above 30 for another few days. I went and got everything my neighbor/fan and I need yesterday, so we're all good.
 
We have about 4 inches here in NC and probably will be more.
 
A post on another board reminded me of a story.

I never liked school and by my senior year of college I was really sick of it. I took a history class Pass/Fail. I didn't care about my grade, I just needed to pass with a D to get my 3 credits.

It was 3 parts graded equally. I got a B+ on the first test. Then I elected to blow off the entire middle section, never went to class. I figured a B+ and an F meant I only needed a D on the final section. I took the final test and the instructor asked me why I didn't take the 2nd test. Like a dumbass I told him my plan and was told he could not pass me if I blew off 33% of the material.

This was Friday, my family was flying in for the graduation ceremony on Tuesday. I showed up that Saturday and the instructed told me to leave my books and take the test to the library. Again I had not attended any classes for this materiel.

I saw most of the questions were from the text book, which I had left at home. I panicked and drove home, I was using my roommate's car for some reason and it started to knock and partially stall. HOLY SHIT!!!!

I got home, grabbed the book and returned to the library where I proceeded to lift full paragraphs, word for word, from the book and put those as my answers. I know the professor had to know but for some reason he passed me.

Iguanas go into a type of system shutdown in cold temperatures. The look totally dead but they aren’t. Pat Riley, when he was coach of the Heat, was doing a radio interview during an unusual cold snap and shared that he had just buried a bunch of dead iguanas.

Boy did the radio lines heat up. 🤣

Both of mine were still in aquariums, they weren't big enough to wander. (I would have love to see them big, they're really cool.)
But even the small ones have tails that whip you across the face.
I tried to kiss Dino and those little teeth they have almost destroyed my lower lip.
 
Kissing is how it always starts. Then there's biting and screaming.

We got 2-3 inches of snow here early this morning. I was surprised. I tried to drive my wife to work in her Miata. It was not going to work. We went down the first hill fine but started sliding out on the upside. So we went back home and I took her in the SUV and it was OK at 8AM.

We saw 5-6 cars and a big lifted Silverado 4x4 in the ditch. I guess the truck guy thought he was going to keep going 50 down the side road, oops. Ice was under the snow though.
 
Another shout out to the meteorologists. Did they not call for big snow followed by freezing rain most of the week leading up to the storm? Did they not also predict that this next storm will probably miss DC and hit south and east a week prior as well? I've been defending them for years because they are right so often but people only remember the times when they were wrong.
 
I'll be curious to see just how lethal these low temperatures in Florida, become for the non-native burmese pythons
 
I posted a video on FB of my 80 pound dog running on 10 inches of snow chasing a ball and she didn't break through. This is the strangest storm I've ever seen, I can't go on dog walks or even enjoy my yard because walking on such unstable ground is dangerous.
 
No pets that regularly play outside on the lawn, but I have a cat that likes to wander the back deck. If he doesn't get to go outside for a while, he whines at the door. Opening the door can usually convince him he wouldn't like the weather outside, but he'd stand there for minutes letting the cold in if I let him.

These are the paw prints of understanding that now isn't the best time.

We ended up with a foot of snow here. Just happy we didn't lose power. You doing alright in sunny GA?

Yeah, it's actually been cloudy & rainy the last 2 days :rolleyes:
I only lost power in the first storm for a couple hours, and all of the ice melted before I actually had to go anywhere.
 
OK.
New phone for the first time in 10 years. I feel extremely stupid.

Old phone just died, couldn't even get it to turn on. I didn't want to pay for a new phone if I didn't have to (I liked my phone, it did everything I needed it to, which isn't much cuz I'm old). Everything was lost, contacts, messages, photos, everything. I was freaking out, bordering on crying.
I should've done this weeks ago when I thought it was on its' last leg, but again, I put the "pro" in procrastinate.

This 20-something named Beto took almost an hour and a half with me. Sweetest kid. Upgraded my phone for only an extra $2/month with 2 free tracker thingys. Took another 20 minutes moving some stuff around with my card and the display model to get all my photos back. Taught me how to get my contacts back. This kid had the patience of Job. (Our birthdays are only 2 days apart).
There were about 5 people in the store bitchin' about how horrible their store service is. I found it to be exceptional, I tipped Beto $10, and made sure everybody saw it.
 
Tyson vs Ali, both in their prime, who wins? My money is on Ali if he can keep away from Mike in the first round.
