Official Game Thread - Week 18 - Commanders @ Eagles

And now we wait for the leaks regarding the coaching staff changes. Shouldn’t be long
Yup, should start hearing of teams canning head coaches and coordinators by tomorrow morning if not tonight. I think some will take a few days but announcements will trickle in through mid week

Should be interesting to see what changes are made and who ends up being available.

What it did prove about the culture is that the players on the field will still play for Dan Quinn. The guys on the field gave a good effort today and they got a win. All the other things he said could be true, but I would say it’s still good for the culture. We won’t have to replace a head coach this off-season.

There's truth in that. We have seen players phone it in like their bags are packed. We saw that the last few games of the Rivera regime, at the end of Shanny, and others. Heck, you could make the argument that the D was playing like their bags were packed and they gave up midseason under Whitt and I do wonder if THAT was the real reason Quinn took over play calling. That is, he didn't take over becer Whitt sucked but because he lost the players.

What really burns me up about today is how arrogantly Sirianni just decided to throw this game away. Not even worried about a chance for the two seed. I really hope they’re one and done because of it too. They have to face a very tough San Fran team who can easily beat them, instead of a relatively breezy game against what’s left of the Packers roster. If that happens, I’ll feel a lot less sour about picking seven instead of five.

Hated dropping in the draft. But am not in the camp that hey they beat the Eagles 2nd stringers so what. Washington started a 3rd string QB who threw for just over 100 yards. I think if Mariota played they’d have won handily.

They’ve already been playing with many 2nd stringers throuigh most of the season. Eagles on the other hand were healthy. And Mariota gave them plenty of problens in the first matchup.

In a lost season, i do think they can maybe catchup with the Eagles next season, the Eagles don’t to me look as unbeatable as they did in 2024.

Effort is a big part of the equation, and tough to maintain in a lost season, true. They need to work on the other parts of the equation starting right now.
