The HC Dan Quinn Discussion Thread

I feel like we’ve had more embarrassing losses this season than we did in all of Rivera’s tenure.
Only because we had more hope. We expected to get trounced during Rivera so the embarrassing losses weren't as embarrassing.

Glass half full:
Harris and AP know "This sucks" - they cannot pretend to themselves.
Some of the fans here seem to think that getting destroyed multiple weeks in a row could be attributed to injuries.
I begged to differ. The team just didn't look "good enough" in situational calls, and there were a couple of bad weeks that we played a bad defense (Dallas, at that time) and made that defense look too good.

This game - and if it happens again next week? - will start to open eyes on whether this team is good enough.

Rivera with his 500 seasons, you could keep saying you were sniffing something. This year we're just sniffing glue.

Yep great point burgold. Hilarious but depressing. Look I know I defend Jayden a ton but he was terrible today. I think we are all just frustrated to see this season go off the rails. We are all diehard fans at the end of the day or else we wouldn’t be here on a message board forum. We all care. To the folks I’ve been snappy with in the game threads…apologies, amigos. I just want to see this team win. I still believe this team has a very bright future and I actually really like this offense when they’re fully healthy. Dicing up the Broncos last Sunday was great to see and what I think we all envisioned. We will get there soon I believe to where we all want this team to be.

With that being said, I do not believe Quinn is that guy to help lead us.

Most of us talked ourselves into the “culture hire” of DQ, especially after going to the NFCCG in year one. Understandable.

But almost anyone who says they weren’t disappointed upon first hearing of the Quinn hire (for me it was the ongoing Keim drumbeat that we shouldn’t overlook Quinn as their top choice beforehand—that’s when I knew it would be him and I started coping early)…anyone who says they weren’t initially disappointed is lying. We all wanted a young offensive playcaller to go with our new QB, or at least a young innovative HC. The retread SB-losing-DC-as-HC put a pit in our stomachs at first report, don’t even lie.

I mean this respectfully because dude seems like a good guy. I know they won't, but I really hope they move on from Quinn this offseason. I'd rather they just rip off the Band-Aid than wait until midway through next season.

It’s been rough and I agree DQ probably gets another year. Any ideas or favorites for you guys?

Yeah I don' want to keep reading for 2 more years that D is a good guy even though we are losing. We had that for years with Rivera

DQ, as others have said probably gets another year due to the success of 2024 but if he got canned it wouldn't surprise me to see Peters go with a 49ers connections like Klay Kubiak. He'd be better than Slowick who was interviewed by Peters last year.

Losing 31-0 to a 4-8 team is about as low as you can go.

It should be enough evidence that this season is lost and Daniels should be shut down.

This team it appears has given up.

And coming after back to back competitive games makes today especially puzzling in re the messaging from coaching.

Ertz joins the rest of the Over the Hill Gang on injured reserve, likely ending his career here.

These final 4 games need to be an audition roster wide.

Guys that are 30 on one year vet minimum deals aren’t helping us moving forward.

Let’s put in a couple of claims from other teams PS and see if we can find some younger guys that can perhaps show enough to help us in 2026.

if we're a properly run organization, Peters should be sticking purely to personnel and leave any coaching staff decisions to Quinn - for better or for worse. if Peters interferes in coaching staff decisions, i'll be concerned. Quinn may get fired after next year, but so be it. I don't want to set the trend of the front office not doing their job.
I agree in general sense. However, it always runs in coordination with the coaching staff. My point was more in terms of giving Defensive coordinator the autonomy of making decisions about the needs of defense roster and the prioritizing of those needs. I am sure it has already been done but we have not seen any material development on defense with new comers and their significant impact. We are still running older players run the defense and hoard those positions, where we need to get young and give them significant playing time. It always work hand-in hand with front office and defensive staff and from current roster standpoint on defense, it has not materialized into anything significant for me in these couple of years. It's either Peters not making the right picks, making the impactful roster decisions, or coaching staff no doing their job of developing and giving younger players playing time. We are still the bottom feeders on Defense the two years under this regime, so there is an obvious blame that someone needs to take instead of feeding people with usual word salad.

i actually think AP had done a good job bringing in mid to low tier contributors on cheap deals...and that's where his weakness has been - not bringing in truly impact players. I am a little more jaded on AP now, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he thought we were close and just needed to tweak things. if he doesn't do anything meaningful in year 3 with tangible results, I am onboard with you.
