I don't think enough people here understand how different this team is called on O - how consistently they are called in down/distance situations.

3rd and 12 ... run with McNichols... 1st down???

It's almost NEVER done by Kliff, and it's not like that for other teams. Passing down? Absolutely, but not 95-99% like it has been for us. Good to see.

Feels a little early for the self hatred, I'd personally wait for Mariota's pick 6. Or after his first incomplete pass. I'm numb enough now that they'd feel the same anyway.

You guys nailed it, totally Mariota being Mariota.

It's why we can't be confident of winning with Mariota week to week, but we can get some Ws if things break right. He makes these mistakes.
In this game, against this O with this DQ D, I think we can have some complementary football though. We'll see. We are due for some breaks if the coaching is right. Right now overall the offensive philosophy isn't too bad. They need to be aware of what their tells are, and I don't think they have been.

Today they seem at least slightly aware of it. There are some wrinkles that go against some of the patterns, at least for now. Not sure if that was a bye week change, but it's welcome to see.

Do you also know that Noah I was our 3rd CB for a good chunk of last year when we went to the NFCCG?

Yes he had some DPI, although now I question (and last year I did too) the coaching on that. There were technique issues across the unit last year and this year.

Someday, a sports magazine writer should get the the guts to ask QBs like Marcus Mariota how they can do everything so right for a game and a half one year, and then come out the next season looking like they're fresh out of highschool.
