Here's kind of the other issue I have with this year, as opposed to previous years: I cannot remember a team that was this injured. Sometimes it's one position that just gets decimated. I remember in 2012 (may have been 35-7 drubbing back in 05 also), I think, the Cowboys were just hemorrhaging linebackers, pulling people off the street and starting them. We ended up bulldozing them. We're doing that at DE, CB, and WR like I've never seen. Better health alone gets us to 6, maybe 7 wins, right now (Cowboys, Falcons, Bears, Dolphins)--and that's even with Whitt calling the defense. The picture isn't as bleak as it seems, I don't think. Maybe that's just me, trying to numb the pain of this season.

One additional unfortunate thing about the injuries IMO - often times it becomes a chance for young depth guys to get a bunch of experience, maybe get a chance to flash a bit and/or earn the chance to start the next year. That hasn’t really worked out for us (for various reasons).

I think that Jeremy Reaves benefited from Will Harris’ injury (though he’s not young depth) Jacob Martin, as well, from the DE injuries.

If Jayden Daniels comes back healthy after the bye (or maybe a week or so after) the team is going to win a few games we all assume they would lose otherwise. If more of the team gets healthy in that window of time, we could get a sneak peek at what the offense was intended to be going into the season.

Will it hurt draft position? Sure, but there is zero chance a healthy Jayden Daniels is going to sit for any extended amount of time. Fans should not let themselves think the team is going to just tank, if so, you are likely just going to be disappointed.

It is entirely possible that the team loses out while doing their absolute best to win. Or wins 3.

Not bad for Cleveland to move back only 3 spots to a non QB thirsty trade partner.

That’s the kind of haul that would get us a Tate or a Love or a Downs this year and have us in the conversation for Jeremiah Smith for the 2027 draft in DC. Dream scenario!

The amount of bad luck at WR has been off the charts this season. I do think Peters set up this spot for failure in a big way -- its my biggest beef about his tenure here so far. But wow, I've still never seen anything like this as for injuries clustering in one spot. DE, too. But WR has been just wild.

Relying on any health from Brown was foolish, but they still added talent in Deebo and Lane. I still like Lane, a lot. No one saw McLaurin only playing in 4 games. I still think a receiver room of McLaurin, Pierce, Burks, Lane, LMC, Deebo would be a good group.

Yep, and Jones playing for Lattimore among others. But as far as young guys…
Owens is getting on the field some, but only as a 3rd safety at times (better than nothing though).
McCaffrey got some PT obviously, but is out now. Lane’s playing a lot too, but they also haven’t gotten much time playing with Daniels.
At corner, we already had our young guys starting. But no young depth benefitting. Maybe Vigers gets called up?
At DE, Jean-Baptiste was our only young guy and he got hurt in game 3?

Exactly.

Overall, to me this kind of highlights the lack of young depth (takes time to build though) and our abysmal injury luck. Hopefully we get some guys back (and the receivers get to play with Daniels).

2012 was an exciting year followed by a 3 win year. 2024 was an exciting year and possibly followed up by a 3 win year. Such a kick in the stones to see history repeat this way.

I’d guess it was a combo of
1) He’s our 4th or 5th Safety (depending on Butler).
2) I think maybe he was seeing the field because Whitt was just trying everything? To be fair, from what I little I can tell, Owens’ ST play could have earned him some defensive snaps.
3) The heavy use of Iggy and McGee didn’t leave a lot of snaps for that 11th man. I’d add Savage to that mix too, but I’m not sure if he was playing as a 3rd safety with Quan/Reeves, or more so in place of Quan.

Personally, I’m more surprised by Quan’s snap count. Maybe not that surprised though given his tackling issues.

Happy to see Magee's playtime increase ut I thought he would have taken a few plays away from Luvu or Wagner.

It's a shame Medrano has zero plays and Kaho is injured

After surviving the Little Farquaad, I will never root for a loss again. That is the definition of Loserville and I want nothing to do with that anymore.

So, I'll root for a win, but if we keep losing, then so be it. I'll be OK with better draft position.

Win-win situation for me.

Would i be ok with washington trading draft capital for a player that will help us win some games this year down the stretch?

Of course not.

So i obviously dont want to win badly enough to sacrifice draft capital to do it then why would i want to win at all when the result is the same?

As much as I am a believer in Jayden Daniels, he is a second year QB who is still learning. Even if you consider this season lost for the team, there is nothing JD5 is going to grasp during practice next season that is better than actual game reps once he is healthy this season. Of course don't rush him back, but if he is healthy with at least a month of football left, you play him.
