The idea of trading a 30 year old coming off an injury he was slow to heal from, with declining production and who pouts and is willing to sit out mini camp and camp even under contract because he thinks he's the best WR in the league and feels disrespected when his FO disagrees and believes he is immune to the idea of age matters -- I don't see much of a trade market. So I think we got Terry next year, too.
Why would a team trade for a dude who is essentially on another 1 year contract. No way would a team take on the years added with nonguaranteed money, they'd either release him and renegoitate or ask him to rengotiate and considering Terry thinks he's a 40 million dollar a year WR, I doubt he'd cooperate for a renegotiation

It just further reinforces what we have all been saying. Higher risk of injury, along with hindering timing and rhythm with the team, especially the QB/WR relationship.
The other thing is you can't put such high expectations on a single player, especially if they are moving near a contract year. The problem of course is the players and their agents are looking for the biggest contracts and not signing quickly usually gets them better results. I guess we shouldn't have to worry about that moving forward because the players being brought in have the Commanders tag...
I have found myself wondering how negotiations would have gone if the team had signed another FA WR or drafted a WR in the late first of early second round along with acquiring Deebo.
More competition, less leverage.

Yeah everyone was discussing the possibility of a soft tissue injury, this clown acts like he was the only person to predict this.
So he is out again? Fuck Terry and his agent, I really hope he is booed when he is introduced when he finally starts playing.
I am holding out hopes that Terry is able rejoin the team, stay healthy and return to Terry form at some point later in the season. Then have at least one or two more productive seasons with the team
Oh me too. But at this point Terry's selfish and unrealistic behavior has had a huge impact on derailing the season. By the time he returns it may be a hole too large to climb out of and that's on him.

I don’t think we can know whether this injury would’ve happened had he been a full participant or if there is a correlation. Guys get hurt all the time who weren’t holdouts - including soft tissue injuries.
I think it’s fine to be irritated with McLaurin for holding out, just not sure it’s reasonable to assume that is what caused his injury or to be angry with him because he’s hurt. Just my opinion.

Though we can’t know, there’s an established pattern of these sorts of issues with hold-outs. It’s a risk factor, a red flag. Like, some people are struck with lung cancer who never smoked, and some smokers get lung cancer, but we have no questions that more smokers than not are represented among the numbers of people who have lung cancer, and we call that a risk factor.
So while we don’t know if this injury is “because” of the hold out, he was certainly at higher risk of injury because of it, according to all the info we have.
And I think most importantly, he opened himself up to this sort of criticism, so whether we can be sure or not he’s going to catch the heat. And I do actually think it’s reasonable, in the literal sense of the word. It’s logical. That’s part of demanding a crazy contract, holding out, demanding a trade (and not smoothing that over after being signed), and insisting you won’t fall to the perils of age like a normal player at your position. You set the bar high and lose the benefit of the doubt, it’s what he signed up for when he took those actions in pursuit of a new contract.

I'm not sure if we could have predicted the injury (though some did) but it was easy to predict that the timing would be off and the offense would be hurt by his absence from training camp and offseason activities. I'd had hoped that would be somewhat lessened by reports that Daniels was throwing to Terry after practice, but it was clear that they were not in sync at the start of the season. Moreover, I do not know if Terry was a step slower because of his not practicing, his age, or endurance, but it sure looked like Terry wasn't getting it done even prior to his injury.
I recall Josh Norris, along with some other football fantasy nerds who track this stuff say early in the season -- of course drop in production, of course injury with Terry's holdout -- and that they should have learned their lesson about that by now.
I've not cared enough to track the history with this circumstance but apparently this is commonplace with these circumstances.

Seems like Terry's contract goes against analytics. Odds are 30+ receiver's are going to see a drop in production. Keeping the money for Tunsil is probably the smarter play.

I was under the impression that we offered OZ a contract but he decided to go to the Bears as he thought he would have more play time?

On the bright side at the 128th selection in the 4th round, he has already contributed a good amount. Now hopefully Jayden can trust to lean on him more, especially more than 10 freaking yards down the field.

As far as being basically injury free he's now at that age when that will change. Has changed. Face it, he's peaked and should take the 1st train out of town after the season ends, sad to say..
