Born in the mid 70s and I had the exact same experience. II was shocked to learn in my late teens that winning/competitive NFL franchises don't remain that way forever.
I don't have an issue with him hiring Whitt or retaining him either. But, if it comes off after season 2, that he can do better than him I wonder if he can fire the same guy who he's pals with and his close to his kids. Will see.
That's the question. We'll see. I don't think we're going to find out until after the season. My gut tells me he's not going to put himself in a position to get fired again if he thinks Whitt isn't doing a good job. But who knows.
