I think the average age of any message board today is 50+. The demise of the message board is so sad. On them you get to know the posters, not the case with the other social media sights it's just random people coming and going. ES was very active, now that the group has been split there just isn't a board like it anywhere.
 
Today is our 35th anniversary. I asked the wife if she wanted to go to dinner, flowers, a gift or even a card have not been necessary for a long time. She isn't into all of that. She said nah, let's just eat leftover pork roast and watch the game.

I am the luckiest man on the face of the Earth.

Why?

ES in the early days grew its membership exponentially because it was creative as hell, driven by incredibly awesome owners and developers, and was unique among Internet message board communities. That’s why the team sought a relationship. Within a few years of the site becoming ‘official’ most of the people that were integral to making the magic happen were gone.

The massive traffic you apparently pine for was solely the result of the site being an ‘official’ NFL fan site.

Many of the former members that were there are awesome people. But the site was a cookie cutter NFL site with nothing to distinguish it from any other site (unless vile political conversation or egomaniac moderators were your cup of tea).

And Happy Anniversary to you and your wife.

I don't care about all the back story or the reason for the heavy traffic. I just knew if I made a post 13 minutes later there would be 6 replies. That's just no longer the case on any message board today and I miss that.

Even ES in the last couple of years was relatively inactive. I have talked about the 'death of forums' a lot here (probably before your arrival). People want McDonalds, not the great family-owned restaurant that's been open for 20 years. They don't even know WHY they want McDonalds. But they do.

Its odd you would bring up activity levels though - this is as busy as this place has been in years given the team's success. Quality vs. quantity might be something to think about. But to each his own.

As I said I don't know or care to know all the history. All I knew was it was by far the busiest message board I frequented right to the bitter end. This is the best Commanders board I have found, including Reddit, so I'm thankful for this place.
 
Sometimes I need to retreat to these other sub threads because of the negativity on the main football board.

Everybody falls off a horse in their life, a few times. It's all about getting back up and getting back into this saddle. That shows who you really are

I dabbled in a Commanders sub on Reddit but it had no activity. I guess there may be others but I won't bother to look, message boards are my preference.
 
This is so awesome. Not just the track he built, but the camera on the car. It’s my imagination as a kid come to life.

Or you could check out the "new ES" which is ran by the greatest collection of Ban Therapists you'll even meet.
