Since he was claiming that he's Superman and doesn't age like just about any other WR they should have put it in his contract. If he is unavailable in 2+ games or 3+ games during a season then his pay will be what it was on the old contract.

These contracts, especially WR and RB contracts almost always look dumb once they sign them.

McLaurin is on pace for about 500 yards and has the same number of TDs as I do.

I'd bet the house that AP already has a plan in place to move Terry to the background and end our dependency on him. More than likely a WR next year in rounds 1 or 2.

Terry's absence on the field is allowing players like McCaffrey and Lane (and perhaps Sinnott soon) to begin to gain Jaydens trust. He will begin looking more at them if Deebo is covered.

I don't think so. I think it's likely after 2026. I think he's going to be on the team for the next 2 years.

Also, they're going to have to pay Deebo, and if they trade Terry, they will take a pretty big cap hit. According to Spotrac, it would be a $29m cap dead cap hit to trade him pre June 1st for 2026, and post June 1st, they would take an $11m hit in 2026 and $18m in 2027.

There is no reason to take that kind of hit for him to go away.

Now, all that changes after next season.

If they trade him after the 2026 season, they would have an $18m cap hit, which is still very large. However, he is set to have a 2027 cap number of $34m, so they would also save $16m on the cap. Unless something changes dramatically, I can't see them letting him cost $34m on the cap.

The deal he signed was really a 1 year extension, and it guaranteed 2025 and 2026. They are going to re-structure, cut or trade him after 2026. He won't play on his current contract.

There's no way he would have signed that.

I really think Peters did a great job getting a team friendly, easy to get out of deal. Terry's cap number this year is $17m (6.2% of the cap), and $18m next year. Then he can get out of it. If Terry killed it, he allowed himself the flexibility to re-work and extend. He also gave Terry something to bandy about (the AAV, which entirely fantasy) so he didn't look like a complete fool.

This contract might be the best thing Peters has done since he's been here. At least the trickiest.

I think you have to see the way the rest of the season plays out. McCaffery is developing quickly, Lane has played 5 games. They might be the studs. They might not be.

Still a long way to go before determining who the studs are.

Besides Randy Moss NE didnt have studs. They had good WR but not great. Most teams with a true top 5 WR dont win Super bowls too often. Rather put money into the O Line and QB. 2nd or 3rd round RB and a bunch of capable WRs can win you a Chip.

Welker was "good" not great. Welker wasn't even to 10 ever for 1 season. He's they had great TEs. I said "great" WRs. Edelman was just as good as Welker. But they were just good system WRs.

ehhhhhhhh. I think I'm going to disagree with you. I think Wilker was pretty special. His superpower was being at exactly the place Tom wanted him to be when he wanted him to be there and then catching the ball when it got there.

Which he did at an exceptionally high level for years. He wasn't the biggest or fastest, but he was really, really, really good.

He reminded me a little of the way Jerry Rice was never the biggest or fastest, but you'd look up, and all of a sudden he'd be open catching balls and scoring TDs. Welker isn't nearly as good as Rice, but in that respect, I found them similar. Both also played with GOAT QBs. Rice with Montana and Young, Welker with Brady.

Possibly, in some way of thinking, the worst situation. If he was surely sitting, at least they would prep accordingly. If he was surely playing, obviously good. If he's in this space- they prep like he'll play and they sit him at the last minute... obvious issues. They play him and he's not physically ready and has serious setbacks... obviously bad. There seem to be more "bad" things when they are in the middle.

I get it, though. Dallas, divisional game, possible shootout in the making. You need your guns.

Noah Brown to IR, Deebo with the heal which is limiting him, and McLaurin coming back from an injury = golly gee, that's not great.

Amazingly, Kliff and the offense have managed this situation pretty well for a few weeks, and thankfully Dallas' defense isn't hot. But man, we're going to probably have to out score Dallas to win, and having such a limited group of skill position players is going to make that tough.
