Official Game Thread - Week 4 - Commanders @ Falcons

i thinking you're reaching at straws here.. definition of Nepotism is "the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives, friends, or associates, especially by giving them jobs."
Whitt got the D coordinator job that he is apparently not qualified to be in because he worked with Quinn in Dallas. A position he has never held before while there are others much more qualified individuals available that have held the position before and have had success.
Working in bus corporate space for 25+ years i see this all the time... even if it was a promotion Quinn wanted to make it a nepo based promotion.. and Whitt sucks.. its time to make it right and hire a real D coordnator.

Everyone who was ever bad at a job impressed someone somewhere along the way who thought they earned the opportunity and then made a bad call. Sometimes it’s in their control, sometimes it’s not. But the vast majority of those failures aren’t nepotism hires even though you can retroactively call them “unqualified”.

Again you don’t understand the term or are purposely using it incorrectly. You can’t be a “nepotism” hire when you worked across the sport and across the league for decades, working your way up until you impressed someone enough for them to make you part of their staff when they got an opportunity. That’s just normal business networking. And like all hires who get a promotion to a job they’ve never done before, sometimes you get it wrong and they suck at the new responsibilities. Happens all the time and again, isn’t due to nepotism most of the time.

But Whitt was hired for various coaching positions and assistant promotions by plenty of people before he ever worked with McCarthy and eventually Quinn, who then wanted to keep working with him and give him more opportunities they felt he earned. That’s not nepotism.

And someone failing with an opportunity doesn’t always mean they didn’t earn the opportunity, it’s difficult to project people into new responsibilities and jobs, and everyone starts somewhere and is a risk to fail. You can’t retroactively decide that every failed promotion was an “unqualified” person to begin with. That’s obviously not true. Sometimes people deserve the opportunity and fail, or can’t live up to it.

If you wouldn’t call it a nepotism hire if he was elite, then it’s not nepotism. You’re making assumptions about whether someone was qualified, otherwise. Nepotism is obvious even if the person turns out to be good. That’s what makes it nepotism.

Every time I hear "false start", I think back a month or two ago to people bragging that Jayden Daniels was kicking people out of the huddle for false starts. I know it's really up to the linemen to stop sucking, but I've always wondered whether losing snaps really helps improve someone.

Don't understand how that wasn't pass interference on the pass to Moore, DB was completely in his body and never got his head around to the ball.

Matt Gay has made his last four kicks — 46, 56, 43 and 52 yards.

So Atlanta has a much less talented DLine than the giants or Raiders and they are dominating us

We have no downfield threat, they know everything happens at the LOS in this offense with Mariota at the helm and McLaurin and Brown out. You can only manufacture so many touches around the LOS and not have the defense key on it. They need to have Mariota attack the seams with TE’s and have the RB’s catch dumpoffs over the middle, if they can’t luck into a deep ball to one of the young guys. Otherwise they’re going to keep crowding the line and getting pressure on Mariota

The good to me is McCaffrey and Lane look good for young developing WRs.

The bad is maybe PFF isnt wrong about the secondary being awful

Are we feeling Gay now?

🙂
Not quite yet but ive been his strongest supporter on here for a while now.
His kicks fly straight and true and he has a strong leg.
We've had so many knuckleball or huge hook kickers over the years its nice having a guy who booms kicks straight and end over end.
Hopefully he can get his groove back and put more through the uprights consistently but im way more confident in him than anybof the guys we had last year despite the results.

That happened once and it was our PS WR Brooks. Not really something that was continually happening (or with the OL) I don’t think

with a cut of lattimore will have at least $75,000,000 in salary cap next year
