Savage with good early career PFF scores in coverage. But brutal in recent years. His last 4 years, 43, 61 (not bad), 41, 43. Hopefully PFF is off or he finds his early career mojo.

Granted though Quan this year with a 30 coverage grade has been oddly brutal at times. The irony is this coaching staff highlighted him as the dude to have a breakout season. The season is young but so far its been the opposite.

It's too early to be this beat up.

The injuries are creating opportunities for quite a number of players. Even Savage will probably be thrown into the fire, hopefully it won't look more like thrown to the wolves.

We need that revamped OL to freaking kick arse and the D be able to control the line and produce pressure.

Only good thing about it is I guess they will have some rested players hopefully for the stretch run including Jayden not having perhaps the same wear and tear.

They just can't obviously lose too many games during this stretch. Might take 11 games again to get to the playoffs.

I like the job Peters did for this off season with two exceptions and I said so this summer: depth at outside Wr, depth at safety. Sadly that's exactly what's being tested.

I think Preston Smith is more than fine as a replacement for D. Wise. If I had to come up with one overplayed narrative this off season by the coaches-media is how big of a signing D. Wise was and how he was going to stop the run. the dude is over 30, coming off an OK season, and was signed for peanuts for a reason and without much of a reputation for stopping the run. You'd think they signed a younger Calais Campbell judging by some of the rhetoric. It struck me silly. Preston IMO has at least the same pedigree of Wise.

As for Harris. Hopefully he comes back. Had a good camp and good start to the season. i am surprised but he's been better than Quan. Savage hasn't been that hot in recent years so not sure if he has a resurgence here. Will see.

Ekeler is a loss. But I like the RB room, so it doesn't bother me much.

Terry and Noah are big losses for now. Arguably they don't have a decent backup natural X or Z. Chris Moore is just a guy in recent years. And Luke, Deebo and Lane are more natural slots. This is the one big hole I think Peters left on the roster where they don't have a starter caliber backup at X or Z.

Good point about saving wear and tear on Jayden and a few of the others. I am also hoping his injury will get him to play smarter and for Kliff to stop calling his number so much. I think both could use the wake up call on that.

Funny I was always a Preston fan and was disappointed when we didn't retain him. I hope he still has the fire and some movement skills.

I was a big Savage fan when he was coming out as well. He started his career pretty hot as he was expected to, so I am a bit astonished how poor his scores are. I understand he experienced a few injuries and PFF scores are nothing to I've and die by but still, he should be better that those scores. I think he will be a decent fit here but it may take a few weeks. It is a good thing the team acted quickly to sign, Preston and Savage because it is slim pickings in available players

I was with you on the outside WR need this offseason. The FA market was bare bones though, hoping we could have pulled in Slayton. Then in the draft I was really hoping for Higgins since the other top receivers would have been long gone when the team selected.

The other position most concerned with was DE/Edge. So far they have exceeded expectations although I am bummed Wise was lost. I thought he'd played fairly well but so great that Preston might be able to fill his shoes.

Regardless of all the injuries, we are playing a team that can still be beat. That means we are in a such a better place than we have been in over the past oh so many years.

Yup - let JD run on a broken play, quit it with the designed runs... it's not worth it.... unless it's playoffs
 
I'm going to address the elephant in the room in terms of injuries:

-TM is out, N. Brown is out. At what point do you start looking for WRs? I get holding off for TM, but how long can we wait for Brown? The injury bug continues to haunt him and we need playmakers at that position. I firmly believe AP is looking at a potential trade, elevate a PS player, or look to WRs sitting on the couch. Regardless, we need a WR. Can't just leave this for deebo, lane, or Luke.

-Safety is becoming a major issue. Gone is Harris. Now Butler is out. And for some weird reason, we refuse to even give a cursory glance at Justin Simmons. I'm not sure what the problem there is, but we could definitely use him at this point.

-This is a hypothetical prediction, so take with a grain of salt. But I think AP could make a trade here shortly. That consists of A) WR Meyers of Raiders, B) WR Hill of Miami, or C) WR Olave of the Saints.

AP has to do something there to solidify our offense. Give JD5 the best weapons he can if they are serious about contending this year. Otherwise, it's just smoke being blown up our asses.

Saw my neighbor that I'm bringing to the game walking her dogs just before she's headed downtown for the pep rally...she's wearing her bucket hat, y'all!!!

I'm only 4'10", but I'll be in a 10 Elite that's waaayyy too big, and a pink Redskins ballcap...HapHazard (RIP) found me in my seat at a game here 13 years ago (great chat, super awesome guy), so anyone can.

I want to thank everyone who thought it worth it to travel here for this game, those of us R fans truly appreciate you!!!

A couple things...

1. I think this front office and coaching staff have more faith in this roster than a lot of the fanbase does. Their game plan does not prioritize the WR room at all. It starts at the LOS and works outward. They believe in McLaurin but they don't need him to be a top 5 WR to fit their needs, and the actual dollars on the contract reflect that. They built the WR room and still have Ja'Corey Brooks on the Practice squad. We have no idea what his development is (or what they think of him). They are game planning to do what they did week 1 and week 3 more often than not.

2. The safety room took a hit but it was already a deep room. Harris going down hurts, but Butlers injury appears to be short term. Bringing in Savage (imho) was likely a combination of a convenience of need and opportunity. I dont think he's brought in to be a savior or replacement. He's brought in as depth. Quan Martin is already the starter, and we've heard a ton about Owens and how good he looks. Reaves has had a really good 2025 to this point, so I don't think they view the room as needing any stark addressing.

3. They have shown that they're willing to deal for players. I also have heard for the last 2 off seasons that they need to stop trading away picks and utilize more from the draft. I think there's a balance and they know that. Trading away assets for a short term investment like Myers or Olave could be interesting, but what are the costs? It's the crux of the whole thing. I absolutely do not want us to effect the future long term in a desperation to a single game / season. The window appears to be open with Daniels at QB. Front loading assets into this season to lessens the length of that window. To what extent? Hard to say.

Personally I don't know that anything major needs to happen. We've heard reports about Terry ranging from 1 week to season ending, so at a minimum the current thinking should be, in my opinion, we need more info. Injuries suck, but to this point... none of them are long term enough to get really worried about. Win this weekend and it gets less of a priority.

I know we're in the 33rd row on the 45 yard line...I managed to find my binoculars that takes both stills and short vids. Haven't used it in decades, but I put new batteries in just to find out.

I believe that this game will come down to a dominant running game on offense but more importantly the talk is that Penix had open guys down field last game but checked it down too early before they came open.

I believe that he will be intent on holding onto the ball this week to allow things to develop down field. This will work against them this week as this will allow time for our pressure to get home, including blitzes to rattle him.

He will quickly get dejected after what already happened last week and the crowd will get tight and uneasy. Strips and picks will be available if we can take advantage

Amos + Lattimore being healthy is pretty huge. If Reaves/Owens whoever on the back end does their job containing London and Mooney, and we wrap up Bijan before he gets into the secondary on his touches, we can take it.

Surprised how confident Logan and Grant are about this game.

For me it feels like a complete wildcard.

Probably because of the ATL meltdown more than anything else. On the surface ATL (especially on O) is in complete meltdown mode; you get shutout by the Panthers, you are not favored the following week.
