Official Game Thread - Week 1 - Giants @ Commanders

And just flat out misses by Daniels and drops.

Way too many drops. JD5 wasn't as accurate as he normally is.

It will all improve as they get more reps. (This is why I wanted Terry in sooner and wanted players playing more in the preseason.)

Yeah it didn't blow up on them in this game but among my concerns was Terry missing camp-preseason. If Burrow said last year it hurt his early chemistry with J. Chase in a similar situation -- it reignited in the game against us -- why wouldn't it hurt here? That and you want to treat him gingerly to avoid soft tissue injuries.

Terry was mostly a nonfactor in this one.

Redski.. ah, Commanders dominated the game but kept the Giants in it until midway through the fourth quarter with all the damn penalties. Conerly looked talented but like a rookie at times, will get better with experience.

Defense got a lot of pressure on Wilson, granted they had that against a suspect OL. Great game overall and I am taking the mistakes (including missing a wide open Terry) as the effect of no preseason games. Hoping that is out of our system now. Green Bay can bite me.

Unless our offense cleans up, the Green Bay game could be ugly. The offense wasn't awful, but they weren't good. As JD said, they were sloppy. He also didn't quite look like himself. Timing seemed a bit off. Hopefully that's just a product of getting back into real game mode again.

And the one time he really got open, clearly there were some chemistry which wasn't there, because Daniels over threw him by 7 yards.

Like to see CR active next week over mcnichols. Eckler is great on the perimeter. I'd use CR and Bill as first down backs with Eckler as 3rd down coming out of backfield.
Ekeler and Deebo are complementary and will extend each other's careers. Bill can do the heavy lifting and is a homerun hitter himself.

The NFL is week to week and Thursday Night games are notoriously sloppy. And the home team is like 4,395,492 - 2.

I expect the offense to be crisper, and get there quickly, but I don't know if I expect it by Thursday because Thursday Night Games are the devil's work.

Dumbass gap tooth Giant said "Daniels looked outstanding" on post game.

I mean, clearly they can't watch every snap of every game. But he didn't look outstanding. He looked like an outstanding QB having an average game.

I remember hearing that line during one of the Montana SBs, when he had something like 200 yards of offense in a half, but he missed a few plays. And he wasn't terribly happy with himself at the half, and somebody said, "Hall of Fame Player having an average half of football." WHich was like 200 yards and 3 TDs or something ridiculous like that.

That's the way I felt today with Daniels. Great QB, average game.

Like peak Tiger Woods. Play your B minus game against their A game and still win. NYG didn't even have their A game today...or maybe they did. Scary for them in either case.

I think the Giant's preseason, momentum, moxie and mojo were all grossly over-exagerated by national media types who don't know crap and NY media.

They all got Osakaed.

They might be better than last year, but barring the completely unforeseen, they will be part of the conversation for a top 5 pick again.

Honestly I was worried about them having the momentum, I’m happy to he proven wrong on that. We showed some signs of rust (mistimed passes, penalties, slow second half, etc.), but in the end we were simply the better team today. All the vets who we rested were big contributors too. I would have blamed DQ if we fell flat, so give credit where it’s due. It’s very encouraging to see such a convincing win despite the overall sloppy play.

It is nice to see the Packers are out to a 10 point lead. Would rather see them fat and happy after a big division win than hangry after a loss.

1. I felt like we might get typical Mara Officiated game, but I think the poor calls/misses evened out.

2. JD5 was definitely off, but it is the first game of the season.

3. Sloppy win, but 1st Game. Divisional game against a team we traditionally play down to their level even when are the superior team on paper.

4. I am please with the W because that is game under the WOS and his Coaches we would lose. Just one more confirmation we are a real franchise again.

All the silly Vagiants fans... Several are trying to suggest that had Jaxson Dart started they would've had a chance to win.

I don't remember where I heard it, I think some Giants guy on Galdi's podcast, who said something like "the Giants are expecting to play well and win, and it's going to be a gut punch to them if they lose."

And I thought it was stupid when he said it. Not that they shouldn't think they could come in and win, but that they were expecting it and it would be a gut punch if they lost.
I could not for the life of me figure out where the hype was coming from.
Daboll in year 4 progressively getting worse literally every year and they bring in a guy who sean payton paid what 40 million to play against him last year and then the steelers went, yeah we think he sucks too.
And because they look good in meaningless games all the sudden some talent on paper is going to make them a contender?

Sounds like what we did to ourselves for the last 25 years.

Well, they aren't wrong. A 0% chance is still a chance...

I was at the opener last season vs NY and it was all field goals…for both teams. The team definitely progressed and I hope they do again. Very weird game today.

You must have had some really good stuff before/during/after the game. It was all field goals for WAS. NYG didn't have a kicker and their 18 points came from 3 TDs. No XPs or FGs.

Then that’s on the coach. I still think McDaniel in Miami is the first to be fired, but Dabol is the next after him. He didn’t do anything today to change that opinion.

My apologies. I just remembered all field goals. Disappointed that we didn’t see any JD magic. I don’t indulge in any stuff, but the Giant’s fans behind us sure did.

I’m watching the GB game with wifey. They look pretty good. Handling the Lions pretty handily so far.
