I have always had the highest possible respect for Terry the human being.

After all of the bullshit and his histrionics during the process I will never again hold him in such regard. That ship has sailed for me.

For his performance on the field which helps the team…sure. But that’s as far as it will ever go for me.

Congrats Bro. Hope it was worthwhile.

I understand how people feel and his delusional ask has impacted my view on his intelligence...but I think the ones who really soured on Terry are overselling "histrionics". we didn't expect this from Terry but this ranks way low on the tier ladder of contract crashouts.

So how much of the cap does his contract eat up this year (not future years, just this year)? My assumption has always been incentives don’t count against the cap unless they are considered easily reachable.
 
Just to be clear, for anyone still wondering - AP held strong and Baker/Terry gave in. There is no chance in the world that this deal is anywhere remotely close to what the ask was. AP had all the leverage, handled it with class and the end result is we get Terry, Terry gets more money, and we have outs.
 
We still don't know the details of the rejected offers.

If Terry was holding out and pushing for either higher APY to max his next 2 years of earnings or add Guarantees in his 3rd year to make up for lower APY. Then I can't really blame him. I wonder if the team just refused any guarantees in the 3rd year.

The woah is me Eastern Motors interview, the ‘ankle injury’, the trade request, the mopey hoodie ‘performances’ at practice, the mopey sideline ‘performance’ at the final preseason game…

To me that is the definition of histrionics. I would never have previously compared him to other players in similar situations. I have always held him in too high regard to do that. I thought he was different. I thought he was better than that.

I was wrong.

He has a $30M signing bonus, so there will be Dead Cap if cut no matter what.

The comments he made about the FO, talking about himself in third person, the pouting, etc -- not at the TO level. But he hit the high maintenance stage of contract negotiations -- it wasn't run of the mill from him.

I still like Terry though. I just have a disclaimer on him as to having some diva in him that I didn't know existed before. A good dude though with fans and in the locker room. So on that front he's 10 out of 10.

difference in opinions and that's okay. for me, it doesn't register until they start doing childish things on social media like removing all team associations and stuff or going on streams. I'd prefer if he didn't do the eastern motors interview but, imo, it was fairly muted. either way, all good. as long as he performs and doesn't have setbacks from missing the off-season, i'm good because AP got a deal done that was in the best interest of the team.

I think it'll be fine. I think the only problem will be if his mom is too much in the public eye during the process. Jayden knows how to carry and conduct himself.

It’s all good. I was speaking solely for myself and how I feel. I realize that I may be an outlier and that’s perfectly ok.
