Its funny how the fantasy community can latch onto a random guy.

Did any team brass proclaim that Bill had won the starting job? All I heard is CRod will be our short yardage guy. Unless the 1 is a flyweight, he is usually the goal line guy.

Even if Bill pushed McNichols off the team, its a 3 headed monster backfield. Wait, make that 4 because JD IS gonna run the ball and vulture TDs. Not ideal for fantasy reaches.

Here is our official depth chart. Not sure I can ever recall a blank... gamesmanship. I am sticking to my guns - CRod our #4 RB gets the first snap.

Nowhere, I think you’re correct about that. The fantasy industry is going crazy because they like youth and upside and mystery boxes. I’m just saying that for people paying attention, I don’t think it will be an upset when CRod and Ekeler start the season with more touches than JCM as the veterans, regardless of what the preseason “depth chart” said. With the culture Quinn wants here they’re going to reward the guy who runs tough and got himself in shape and worked on his speed and all that stuff. Like Jeremy Reaves, CRod is an example of an in-house guy who kept persevering and took his game to another level, those guys are always rewarded to start the season. And Ekeler will do what he always does: catch passes and score TD’s

I agree with you that JCM is a bad bet early in the season and not the starter. Now give it a few weeks for people to get dinged up and JCM to get the feel for things, and he might start carving out a real role for himself if we have a sleeper on our hands. But he could be the most dropped fantasy player after week 1 and people will retroactively laugh at the hype, you’re right

I think Washington is keeping Merritt 'under wraps' during the preseason as a weapon to unleash in the opener against the Giants.

I don't think he necessarily will be the starter on the opening drive of the game. It may very well be that Rodriguez starts the first few drives.

But my guess is Merritt gets his early chances on key downs and as he makes plays will slowly increase carries and catches.

How early that will be is based on his impact.

Also on Rodriguez. If Rodriguez doesn't show that he can attack the edge and is a 3.5 yards per carry rusher, Merritt is likely to get more opportunities from near the get go.

But Kliff seems energized to have Merritt here for 2025 and he's fairly aggressive in putting players on the field.

Remember last year when the team signed Noah Brown?

Keim and others were of the opinion he would be brought on slowly and contribute a few plays a game.

Instead once Kliff saw there was some chemistry with Daniels, Brown ended up playing a lot more EARLY for us.

after seeing the Cincy game, I wish we didn't let them sign Tinsley off our practice squad. I thought he was the best looking UDFA WR we had seen in a long time.

the irony is that Tinsley is now on a team with a deep receiver room. How much time he sees on the field is an open question.

The team was hyping Brooks for awhile but he never really seemed to stand out later in the summer or the preseason games.

We cut him and while I realize the team may be looking to bring him back on the practice squad, the truth is if Peters thought he was a rare ruby at WR the team would have kept 6 receivers.

Timothy McKay is another guy they paid a bonus to sign as a UDFA but we cut him and he looks like a PS player somewhere in the league.

We really haven't had that break through undrafted free agent yet that comes in and contributes right away like we saw in the Gibbs years despite the draft going from 12 rounds to 7.

Owens is here but he's still largely in the background on teams.

I wonder if he was emboldened by drugs etc to speak up as he did. He seemed the lone wolf owner willing to speak openly about Dan being an embarrassment to the entire league.

I read a long article about him a few months ago and he lived a very interesting life. Many suspect he developed the drug problem due to destroying his body from squatting 700 pounds in the 80s and then running marathons in the 90s

Now that the season is about to start, what are people's thoughts on the last 2 draft classes?

The 2025 class has gotten better in the past month.
Looks like we've got 2 starters (Conerly/Amos) plus 2 contributors (Lane/Bill) plus a probably special teamer (Medrano). If this question was asked a month ago it would have appeared like Conerly might not start, Lane would be Punt Returner only, and Bill would only get touches after Brian Robinson was inevitably worn down. Instead Bill/Lane/Conerly seem to have earned their increased opportunities (BRob is gone but CRod emerged). For only 5 picks, this looks like a good draft class.

The 2024 class is still the same as it was when last season ended.
Besides Jayden Daniels and Mike Sainristil, the rest of that class has not had any change in buzz (except for Hampton getting cut). Sinnott/Luke/Magee/Jean-Baptiste/Newton are kind of where we left them to end 2024. Coleman is back and starting at LG and looks alright (I believe?), but seems to be the only guy with any different buzz than before but it's mostly from the position switch.

It's a bit disappointing that so many guys from the 2024 class appear to not have developed much in the off-season, but it's nice to see the 2025 class improve over the past month.

I have a draft tonight. My 18 team guilitene league I picked up Ekeler in the 8th with Bill still on the board. He's the only one of the 3 I'd draft before the 10th round.
