It has to do with how long the player has played in the league. I think if they've done at least 4 seasons, players are 'released' and are free agents immediately. If they have less than 4 seasons of NFL time, they are 'waived' and then teams have to navigate the waiver wire based on their order.

It’s funny, but in my decades of watching football it never occurred to me that there was a difference between waived and released until I saw that tweet lol…

My random thought as we enter the season: I am concerned about the adjustments defenses will make. It's well known that KK's offenses get figured out, there is no doubt in my mind that teams will take away the play where Jayden converts a 4th and 2 by simply outrunning one defender to the edge. How will the Commanders counter, that's the real question as we start the season.

Actually the narrative was that Kliff’s offenses start hot each year after he spends all offseason tinkering, but then get figured out by mid-season or so, and that didn’t happen to us.

I think the truth is that an elite, athletic QB unlocks almost any offensive coordinator, but even more so when the OC is a tinkerer and has a QB with a brain. Kyler Murray sucks, doesn’t study, and can’t see the middle of the field.

You can tell from the actions of Peters to date he has identified a couple of players to keep from the Rivera era (even though Terry was drafted before Rivera was here) and the rest based on performance needed to be moved off the roster.

If you look around the league you will see a number of these ex-Rivera Skins being released by teams at the end of camp (Khaleke Hudson, Phidarian Mathis) or traded each offseason for a bag of donuts (Sam Howell).

From recent news other players like Benjamin St. Juste are on the bubble with poor camp and preseason performances.

McLaurin is a great 50/50 ball receiver with good speed. Deebo is a good YAC receiver. Noah is a tough posession/chain moving receiver, and Lane could be a back breaking speed freak.

Forbes over gonzalez is unforgivable and at the time i was in the let it play out camp because i hate shitting on picks before they play out but even then i was gobsmacked by that pick based off all the pre draft hype about gonzalez being a possible top 5 pick and i hadn't even heard of forbes.

I am liking our WR corpse much better with Terry online and Noah healthy.

Noah is a big body zone beater that compliments what Terry and Deebo offer. I wonder if we use Lane to fill a deep threat role... a Dyami fill in of sorts.

I fully believe he's in excellent shape, and he knows the offense, and he and JD5 had reps last year.

- He's going to press to show how great he is and make mistakes early

Seems like there are only so many touches to go around especially considering a healthy Eckler and Deebo added into the mix. Add Ertz looking to be JDs early favorite target and JD getting his share.....kind of a nice problem to have.

I really think they are going to want to limit JD5's rushing attempts this year. And I think the addition of Deebo can help with that.

I also think they want to get more than 3 yards and a cloud of dust out of the running game. Bill might be able to help with that.

And Lane provides speed they didn't have last year.

If they put Terry on one side, Deebo and Lane on the other, Ertz at TE to the Terry side, and Ekler i the middle, and have all of the pass catchers run some types of routes deep or to the outside, it's going to leave a HUGE hole in the middle of the defense either to run into or just quick pass into. OR you send Ekller out as well to run a wheel route, and if a LB goes with him, you've basically got 4 DL vs. 5 OL JD5 can run it right up the middle.

It's a lot of explosiveness (absent Ertz, who is as slow as a concrete truck, but knows how to get open).

Having Terry back is such a huge personnel benefit. It was really going to stink if he sat out games.

I don't agree with this at all. During Kingsbury's 4 seasons in Arizona, the offense got better every single season. The last season things collapsed, but I think that had a lot more to do with Kyler Murray getting hurt, and half the WRs being injured than DCs 'figuring out' Kingsbury's offense.

On your overall point - that defenses now have tape on JD and that may help them be able to shut him down more effectively, sure, that's possible. But it's also possible that with his level of talent and athleticism, no amount of 'scheming' will be able to make him ineffective. We see that with other elite talents like Lamar Jackson and Mahomes. And I suspect Jayden is even better in 2025 than he was last season, will have better protection, and has better weapons around him.

I'm too lazy to look it up but I clearly remember this was the narrative on KK was teams figured him out, this happened as the season went on I was told in the pros and college.

I don't see a drop off with Jayden, but I'm pretty convinced DCs will take away that one play that was so effective where Jayden is isolated on one defender on the right edge that he easily beat.

I think you saw a bit of a preview in the preseason 😊 Jayden stepping up in the pocket and using the middle of the field… and turning it inside because defenders will be guarding the sideline.

I boldly predict he is going to out score our beloved and fantasy darling Mr. Bill in week 1. He may even start the game. What coach starts a rookie 7th rounder game 1?? Who last I heard was ailing.
