Yeah I'm pretty sure that nobody is franchise tagging a 32 year old WR.

That's the point. If you follow Burgold's idea, you dont have to. He's only going to be counting for $14M guaranteed. If he decides to hold out again looking for an extension at that point? Good luck. His plan front loads the cap hits while you can afford it and while Terry is likely still producing at a very high level.

Plan for tomorrow... we need to go number one with wide receiver this year in the draft, maybe number two. I'm not a draft guy so I don't know what the future looks like draft-wise.

Terry seems to be going the opposite route. Whomever his side is talking to believe Terry would play for any team that pays him the most -- whatever team that is. And it feels like he's trying to leverage the team into overpaying him because they are in a SB window.

Terry and his agent were able to get an overpay via Ron-Dan. I am gathering they are shocked its not unfolding the same way. I love that Peters isn't a pushover.

I don't remember when this contract bullshit started, but I wonder if it was strategic to wait until all the other big WR moves were made and then when our dependency of Terry being WR1, his hand was played.

I mean if he had said that he wanted a DK contract and DK was still an option for us, that's an easy choice. Or even someone like Adams signing with the Raiders.

There were quality WR options in FA this year, so if this extension talk began at a calculated time like that, I think I'd be done with Terry. Play your last year and kick rocks.

I am beginning to get tired of this whole thing. McLaurin is on an awful team for his whole career with an awful QB situation. He’s a model citizen. Gets his raise. He’s silent.

Then we go to the NFC title game with a young QB - we’re legitimately a good team - and he now is not only playing this game, but digging in on it.

It’s obviously him trying to make sure his nest egg is large towards the end of his career, which I don’t fault him for.

But if money… big money… were this important to him then why didn’t it matter when we stunk?

I think the strategy is even off. He had more leverage when we were bad. He was THE unquestioned face.

Is he mad that we signed Deebo for more than Terry makes? I mean, Terry is better than Deebo, but this is what happens in life. New people are signed at higher rates than the older people were.

But Terry wants an astronomical raise.

I don’t know. This just doesn’t sit right with me.

But I’d still rather he stay here and be a part of this via a fair compromise with the team.

I was debating between a McLaurin and Sanristil SB Era jersey this year--my choice is now made.

Nothing against Sanristil but this is a shame. The Terry tax is taxing all he good Terry memories negatively

Well, this is why you really shouldn’t mix both. Terry’s judgement is likely in part being clouded by his relationship with the guy. He’s almost certainly not being told what he needs to hear.

That's really a kicker in this. He already pulled this stunt and it was at the right time for him. He played his one trump card already and he was right for it.

I don't know if it's the Deebo signing, his age, his money management, seeing other contracts or that he thinks we have no choice but to pay him or whatever, but he's anchored himself to a sailed ship.

We're talking about a contract for a 32yo and 33yo wr, not even the 31yo he'll be this season. It's wild to me.

I think this is the first negative thing being said about Terry (or at least the Terry situation) said by one of our coaches. It's said gently, but the meaning is clear.

"Get your butt in here, Terry. You're hurting the team at this point."

Bram was oddly optimistic on his show yesterday about something getting done soon-ish, though I don't think he had any insider information. I think he was expanding on the Keim reporting, and also extrapolating that at some point, Terry is going to see his leverage point is non-existent and get on with it.

I don't know if I feel quite as optimistic.

I do know they need to get Terry into camp, it's time. It's time to start working and preparing for the season.

The one thing we know is Peters is not going to get pushed around. The question is, will he feel the pressure of "we are setting up to try and win now and Terry not being here is going to hurt us" and then move more than he wants to?

Or is he just going to count on the fact eventually Terry is going to do what he has to do.

We'll see. Time will tell. But the time is now
