And with Peters and Quinn pushing the all for one and one for all approach with the team, could they just - if you don't wish to be here, we don't want you. That's a tough situation for team leader and captain
I understand it's business, but I think from a fan point of view and maybe even a player point of view something changes the moment you say, "Trade me!"
Trust is lost. The player is no longer one of us anymore. At least not to the same degree. The Commanders have been talking about building a brotherhood and the players have (in their quotes and actions on and off the field) seemingly bought in. Now, the question awaits as to how this trade request impacts how players view the front office. With the exception of Sam Cosmi, Peters hasn't re-signed anyone to a large contract. So, the ripple effect of this could hurt both Terry's reputation with the team and team's faith that Peters will reward them.
Still, there's a reason why you resist using the nuclear option. It generally signals something that you can't take back and something that even if it works out leaves a lot of damage in its wake.
It’s almost like he’s a different person. That or he was just really good at pretending not to be an egomaniac. And look I've never heard Terry talk about himself in third person untl this negotiation

I hope both sides know that. Not as sure now.The team has no reason to trade him and they won’t. He has no choice but to report and play out his contract. Both sides know that which makes the tactics by TM’s camp pretty pointless and silly.

I believe this, given what we saw out of one of his buddies on Twitter last night.Keim just on. He thinks no way they trade him. Among other reasons, asking around some, teams aren't paying him big money and also giving up big trade compensation.
The gist of impass is that Terry thinks he should be made an exception to the rule for how his career will unfold in his 30s. This FO doesn't see it that way.
Junkies just now, one of them said they talked to someone who knows Terry about 6 weeks ago and was told Terry is really pissed and was talking about other teams he'd like to play for.
Digesting all of them in recent weeks. Feels like Terry is pissed that this team doesn't believe in him enough to take his word that he will be at 32, 33, etc the same player he is now. And the idea that WRs sould be pay less in their 30s is nonsense. And even if they don't per se see it this way -- they should pay what he's asking for because all he's done for this team.
I agree with you. I’ve already moved on from Terry in my own mind.I know most don’t see it happening, but I think McLaurin is stubborn enough to actually refuse to play another down for Peters and try to force Washington into the ‘something is better than nothing’ trade scenario.
It would be a dumb and reckless thing to do, but I would not rule out him doing it because he’s unable to accept the valuation the team has placed on him.
You know, respect might look like paying him like the team did their best receiver of all time. Tear up the current offer and offer Terry McLaurin Art Monk money.
Heh! I had to look it up. Did you know it?1.15m? Sold!! 😉

Yeah, this is where I am. We’ve seen this act from players before. The trade request is usually one of the last steps in negotiations. Two years ago, Lamar Jackson requested a trade from the Ravens during contract negotiations. This is what agents do when they make this stuff public. They want fan and media pressure on the team. I definitely believe this was made public by the agent because when has this front office ever leaked anything? When has any news come from this front office until something actually happened? Not real concerned at this point. Plenty of players have requested a trade only to re-sign. I do think it's likely this 'leak' came from the agent and I'm not sure it's the leverage they think it is.
