The 2025 Draft Thread

I wanted Hairston pretty badly. Amos was my back up 1rst rounder. Was upset we passed on him. Loved his size and length. Go figure.

Side note, every time the top 100 goes around the ticker and I see Gonz listed, or when his NFP commercial plays, I hate RonMart just a little more.

I hear that. I hate hearing friends of mine that are Pats fans even mentioning Gonzos name. They go on about him being a stud, we got a dud toothpick instead
 
I remember watching Amos's senior bowl cutups and thinking, eeehh...then watching his game tape and going "wow, that's a different player". I've got high hopes for Amos.
 
Today was the first day of pads. So, it doesn’t surprise me that we haven’t heard much from Newton.

So far, we’ve heard at least some good things about every 2024 draft pick in training camp, except McCaffrey. I think that’s might be the missed draft pick of 2024. Even Sinnott caught a great pass from Daniels today.
 
I think it's amazing how we have heard and seen positives on virtually every 2024 and 2025 pick already in camp. It seems so early to be getting that much good news and leading to higher expectations for the new season!
 
SF was built largely on picks in Rounds 2-5 and I was expecting Peters to bring that ability to add depth in a way we haven’t seen in a long time to DC.

We are certainly going to g to need impact players working on cheap rookie deals playing with JD5.
 
With Croskey-Merritt we could have a Bill playing with a half of a bill+.
 
Croskey-Merritt's development is important for this team in 2025 because the other rushers lack the speed to turn the corner on a NFL defense.

Rodriguez and McNichols are basically the same player, between the tackles ball control runners.

Only Ekeler has playmaking ability and at 30 we have to spell him due to his injury history.

I don't know how anyone can really criticize a guy the team takes in Round 6.

Unless he is a WR that runs a 4.9 or an offensive tackle that goes 275, you are looking at raw developmental players with upside.
 
I think Medrano is loaded with talent, but his tackle rate was abysmal. Won't be able to evaluate that until pre-season games.

He’s a guy I hyped up some before the draft. He’s played some safety, and has plus coverage skills for an LB. Hope he can secure a spot in the team with some ST skills also.

Athleticism can’t be coached, tackling can. Rooting for him to make the final roster, and maybe morph into a dime package S/LB hybrid. Dude can flat out fly.

I feel the same way. I do however have more reservations that many on his tackling concerns. Yes tackling can be coached, but he has had high school and good college coaching that so far has not clicked. It feels a little like RG3 and sliding. I mean, who can't slide? Yet even coaching and specialists really didn't help. I am keeping fingers crossed with him.

There's usually a narrative for why a draft pick "falls". For any defensive player, tackling concerns are not good, but at least the upside is high for Medrano, unlike, say, Bacarri Rambo back in the day.

I much prefer the narratives for two other draftees: Lane is not big or strong, and his production wasn't great, but maybe it was because of his QB/offense. Croskey-Merritt didn't play last year, and it was a deep draft for RBs, so maybe other teams overlooked him. Seem like they both are likely to contribute significantly as soon as this year.
 


This is some of the dumbest shit I've ever seen. Drake May had 10TD's and 10INT's last year. He had some bright spots. He is miles and miles and miles away from being a top 5 NFL QB, and what are the odds he ever gets there? Absolutely zero Washington fans would change their selection in a do-over situation, and a huge majority of NE fans would, if they were being honest. I do think that Drake Maye vs Caleb Williams is a very interesting conversation though.

Also, heard Louis Tee talking about Whitt and Quinn praising Newton in their pressers. Even Luke seemed to get more praise than the tweets would suggest. I favor McCaffrey and Sinnott not to pan out, but even if that happend, these last two draft classes have the potential to be absolutely stellar. Even without Jayden, Sainristil in the 2nd, Coleman in the 3rd, Newton in the 2nd, Magee in the 5th? That's looking super promising, given where the selections were made.

And, I like this year's draft class even better. I don't see any reaches, which most of us felt that Sinnott and McCaffrey were. We only had 5 picks, and in the back half of the rounds, but all 5 have made an impact in camp, all the way down to our 6th and 7th round picks. And Conerly and Amos look like 5-10 year roster anchors if they continue to pan out. The only guy that I really see not making as much impact as Medrano. And he is the epitome of an upside pick. The speed and fluidity of a WR at LB/S. If he hits, you have a pro bowler for a 6th round pick.

I'm honestly already looking forward to the 2026 draft thread, after the season!

So much this. AP has already shown an ability to be elite at drafting players that fit the identity throughout any round of the draft. Add in what he’s done with a couple UDFAs and I think we are definitely set up for long term success.
