Random Commanders Thoughts

I used to hate offseason power rankings.

Id click on it and scroll down till my thumb was sore and be like oh that's bullshit, we aren't the 28th best team in the league.

But it would turn out to be accurate.

Now I click on them and immediately I'm like oh that's bullshit we aren't the 6th best team in the league.

But we may actually be.

It feels a little surreal.
 
We might even be better. I'd argue we gave the Eagles a far better fight than the Chiefs did.
 
Bram brought up something on his show when he was talking to Keim which I found both interesting and probably not exactly right: McCafferty might be on the bubble or even on the outside looking in.

His point was the following WRs are locks for the roster:

Terry McClaurin
Deebo Samuel
Noah Brown
Jaylin Lane

Then they have the following WRs who all competing for 2 spots at most, assuming they carry 6 WRs:
Michael Gallup
K.J. Osborn
Luke McCaffery
(I thought there was one other person, but I can't think of who it was)

Both Gallup and Osborn have been good in the past, and both were signed (or in Obborn's case, re-signed) this off-season.

I think McCaffery is going to make the roster, but man, he's going to have to work hard to get on the field. Lane will be active for returns. If he's the 6th WR and not a returner, he's going to be inactive on gameday, and that's going to be no bueno for him.

I hope he comes into camp and just lights it up. He's a good enough athlete, if he can put it together, he could be a great contributor. But he has to show that or else, eeeek.
 
Yep. The good news from what I recall is Luke is a hard worker. I’m rooting for him.

Only Washington beat the eagles after September last year.

If the fumblers take care of the football that NFCCG would have been one of the best games ever.

The fumbling was a huge problem. The officiating was the second problem. In every major sport, if you are facing a really talented opponent *and* they get a few calls their way, it starts to become pretty disheartening I think.

Man, those fumbles came at really bad times too. Credit to the Eagles on those as well, got to give credit where it's due. I just wish Jalen Carter had more attention on his stupidity. I am assuming eventually he's going to get the deserved Suh rep, but apparently not yet. The NFL really should not have sent that particular officiating crew for the NFCCG.
 
I was out on the porch and this dude with the vanity plate backed up into his parking spot...watching him get out of his car, he had a Redskins shirt on...so I threw on my hat and ran out the door to greet him...another kindred spirit. :cool: He went to the game up there last season and has expectations of going this season here.
Fabulous! There are 3 of us in just 2 buildings here.
We outnumber the one knucklehead in Cowboys gear. :cheer2:

I personally agree with you, but if a player wants to wear a number really badly, I don't know if I would fault them. It's just a different take. I don't know that Abdul should have asked for 56, that seemed a little tone-deaf. Over here, though, because of the severe lack of hype and attention, I could see someone asking for 81 or 44, and I would hope they would be rebuffed by the team, no need to ask the players. That's just me, though

I feel you, and i don't disagree. If I found myself wearing the same number since I was 5 years old and it's a part of who I am, I would absolutely understand a level of frustration.

Part of my post is tongue in cheek, because I am happy that some story lines like this aren't coming out of our camp, but another part is that this is a clear example of a young player coming across the wrong way, even if not intentional.

The Commies made a big splash with the acquisition of Laremy Tunsil from the Texans in the offseason. It makes sense that they want to go all in on protecting their star QB Jayden Daniels. Tunsil will be a cornerstone tackle for them for a few more years. They also spent their first-round pick on OT Josh Conerly Jr. from Ohio St, one of the top tackle prospects. Conerly shows great potential, including great reps against Abdul Carter, whom he will now face twice a year. Adding two great tackles to a line that already includes a great center in Tyler Biadasz, and hopefully, guard Sam Cosmi will return to health in 2025. The Commanders should have a great line to protect Jayden in what could be a breakout season for this group.

They don't give Coleman a mention but rank the "Commies" as having the 10th best OL. Not a bad projection!
 
I see a ton of eagles stuff on social media. They're doing a 400lbs squat challenge to the entire team. Barkley is squatting almost 600lbs now. It's insane. They're definitely going to be the team to beat for a while.

NFC East is going to be a tough division. NYG probably aren't a joke, cowboys should be in the playoff hunt.

Winning our division is gonna be rough. Glad iron sharpens iron or whatever.

A ton of these guys are coming into the league already wealthy now. Many of them “made it” as college Sophomores with huge NIL deals. In fact, for mid rounders, many actually took a pay cut by not finishing out their eligibility and trading the NIL money of a star college player for a 4th round 4-year rookie contract.

So…the vibes coming off of these guys coming into the league, it’s going to keep changing.

Why is Noah Brown a lock? He did catch that Hail Mary, but he is on a one-year contract, and he has only had over 40 catches once in his seven year career.

I figure McLaurin and Deebo are the top two. After that I think it is wide open. Lane and McCaffery should get some advantage because of their upside, but the three vets are all guys who have caught hundreds of balls in the NFL, so I figure the competition should be good.

Yeah our division is tough. The Eagles are obviously the team to beat, but it’s not like we had an easy time with Dallas or New York last year.

I’m somewhat worried about New York, I think they had a strong draft, and I think that Skattebo in particular going to be problem for our defense.

Assuming we don’t backslide, those two games against Philly to end the year will be the real test of where we stand.
