Listen to Keim this morning--his sense is the deal will NOT get approved as it is currently structured, but ultimately will. There is work to be done, but Harris & Co. are very good at this and have been very active with the DC council since they took over.

And there are so many people in this world you'll always have some opposition no matter the topic.

If you put a little effort in you could get at least a couple dozen people on a highway overpass holding signs against baby seals.

My takeaway from that photo of the community forum is that it doesn’t appear representative of the overall DC citizen population.

All ancient, none will live to see the ramifications of no project at all taking place and that area continuing to rot, they just don’t want to deal with a huge construction project in their twilight years. There is no alternative plan for that region right now and they actually have the rarity of a billionaire on the hook for 80% of a development that will encourage all sorts of other private investment (read: non-tax dollars) in the area as well

(sorry to the older folks in here but older generations selfishly voting for things that won’t effect them nearly as much as younger generations really grinds my gears—end of semi-political tangent, apologies)

As an ‘older folk’ in residence here…those in my age-group and older have a predilection to attend events like that one because they don’t have much else to do. It’s their entertainment on non-bingo nights.

That sounds about right, I was a college freshman when I joined ES in 2007 or so.

The brain is slowing down but so is the mouth so it evens out!

Yeah, very odd. WUSA9 seems to be at the heart of the anti-stadium crowd. Not sure why they are taking that stance.

As I said, though, who knows what the counsel is going to do. They denied Jack Kent Cooke coming off of 3 SBs money for infrastructure around the new stadium he wanted to buy.

They could do it again.

I actually care less about where the stadium is and the general design. I would prefer it in DC because it's easier for me to get to DC than MD as a VA resident. (I was actually hoping VA would win because that would be best for me. )

All that said, I think it WILL get done. It's just going to take a while. And the cousel is going to probably do and say stupid things. And apparently CBS is going to magnify the minority. Which I still find odd. I think there also might be some Federal pressure applied at some point, though we'll see how that plays out.
