Real Madrid's is much more sophisticated when they're not playing. Their grass field sits underneath the stadium, where there's air conditioning, irrigation systems, and ultraviolet light therapy

I was going to post the same video.

Maybe they could figure out how to have:
- a real grass field for commanders games
- field turf for other sporting events not commanders
- concrete for other stadium uses
- lava for the best game of “floor is lava” ever

All at the same time?

Ok. Maybe one of those is less realistic. Scratch the concrete. Or maybe the concrete TURNS INTO LAVA!

Have no idea, but with the limited land I suspect it will stay in Virginia.

I haven’t seen any reports that they sold the Ashburn parcel. I have heard that they submitted plans so that they could develop the land for possible data center use in the future. Maybe I missed that news of it’s sale.

I’d also think they need a new state of the art practice facility. I’d bet we have that before the stadium is finished.

They seem to be taking this one bite at a time, in the appropriate order. Once the stadium is locked in, Josh Harris can put somebody in charge of design etc, that checks in with him, and then can focus on other things.

From what I have read they want to have a grass field, and Harris said they are staying at their practice facility. Said they like it out in Loudoun.

If I were still a season ticket holder I would not like that the new site will have PSL's and limited space for tailgating. The tailgating was half the experience and over the Snyder years, the tailgating was the only experience worth remembering.

Now that I only go to one game each year, I absolutely love the new stadium. I can't wait to walk my grandkids up to this.

Riggo being there speaks volumes. The current city council members that are, or may be, against the deal are going to feel tremendous pressure to approve.

It'll be like Nats Park--it'll get approved by 1-2 votes--and the dissenters will grandstand on the fact that "they really care about DC...while others were building playgrounds for billionaires...I looked out for your best interest! Look how good of a person I am!"

2. Pretend DC is paying for the entire stadium
3. Name the standard list of populist alternatives that makes it look like you care
4. Pretend many of those items aren’t available if they build the stadium

You know what I want? Just name it RFK. The naming rights pull in a pittance. Is 20 million a year, essentially an extra high level offensive guard, worth breaking that tradition. I think fans would be crazy hyped just to go back to the old name.

I feel that is correct. I put ‘feel’ because I always hope for the best and prepare for the worst. 9 of 13 council members were not in attendance, including the chair who is openly opposed. If the 4 in attendance are for it, and I would assume that they are, they only need 3 more in favor. There is also a pesky attempt by groups against to gain enough signatures to have the issue become a ballot initiative next year. It is widely expected that the voters would vote against that measure if afforded the chance.

So all the pressure is on this council, and likely the new Ward 8 council member to be elected in July, to push this though post haste.

I was on board....until I read that they're going to curtail tailgating. I'm beyond pissed. Between the PSL's and limited tailgating? Unless something changes, we'll be giving up our season tickets......

God. If that is true... We have really lucked into the absolute best ownership group.

I would be absolutely fine with this.

I honestly can't imagine this ownership group having a better start. From GM to coach, investments in scouting, etc. Finding our QB. Upgrading the current dump of a stadium. Upgrading player facilities and benefits, such as childcare. Getting the RFK site. Getting Riggins, and all of the older team legends that had fallen out with the franchise, back in the fold. The naming thing if it comes through.

I feel like the 20 years of misery with Dan might be worth it, if it leads to this and hopefully a couple of Super Bowls.
