Really like the pic with its faux Roman columns. Looks very classic D.C.

That has the Grok logo at the bottom right so it’s an AI creation.

Making it a year-round facility with surrounding retail, restaurants, etc., will bring jobs to the area, and generate tons of money for the district.

She knows this. But this gives her a little bit of face time with social media that she would more than likely never get.

More importantly, Team Ownership is committing more money to the project than the city, with all public money going into the development of the surrounding area, not the stadium itself.

When was the last time an NFL team built its own stadium rather than expecting public funds to build it?

SoFi - Metlife and Gillette used all private funds completely

Washington Redskins did it with our current stadium and no fucking PSL's...... State kicked in $78 million for infrastructure....

Gillette received $70m in infrastructure improvements on a $325m stadium. I was under the impression that Harris & Co. would build the entire stadium, and DC would improve infrastructure.

The DC counsel has always been challenged to do the right thing as regards to the football stadium. Remember Jack sent Cooke wanted to build his stadium there and tried for YEARS to get it through before deciding if he waited any longer he would die before he got a new stadium.

Which, I believe kidof happened anyway. I don’t think he lived to see the stadium completed.

And this was while the Redskins were winning superbowls. And JKK said he would pay for the thing himself and they were still stupid.

It absolutely wouldn’t shock me if the DC council decided they don’t want a $2.7m private investment, and then they will be shocked when the cost of doing anything with the land (because they’re going to have to pay a significant amount of money to remove the stadium and get the land ready to do anything with) is going to be the same.

It is what it is. We’ll see if they have a Louis like VA did who can kill the entire project.

I hope not. And I think in the end it will pass. But it’s going to be hard because it’s always been hard.

Sharon Pratt (formerly Dixon, formerly Kelly). If I remember correctly Cooke offered to pay for the stadium--much like Harris is--and she refused to do anything to help, no roads, no infrastructure, nothing.

It appears as though CBS9 has taken a very negative stance on the whole thing. Which is somewhat odd.

There was some reporter who tried to really push the anti public funding angle with the mayor. And I think it might have been the guy from channel 9.
