Sure, but the cost could outweigh the benefits.

The thing is, sports history is littered with so many "championship contenders" who don't make it to the top for one reason or another, so there is no such thing as a guarantee there. The guarantee we would have is our already depleted drafting would get further depleted. I also was kind of hoping they got one of the dynamic Edge guys or RBs, but I think in terms of RB, the usage may not really be there actually. Kliff likes passing. In terms of Edge, I think that is not as much the style they are developing (per their Kinlaw comments, maybe?) but anyway, I don't think their board dictated that, and they went with their board which is usually the right call if your board is at all good.
 
Yeah Hendricks would be awesome. He is going to probably cost too seeing how we are already down out 2nd and 4th rounders next year.

I was hoping with the big edge class even though we didn't fill our need, that all the other teams did. Less competition for Hendricks, cheaper the price. However looking through the teams it seems at least the Lions and Tampa Bay are probably still in the market for an edge.

There is also the chance that Cincy really does want to keep Hendricks and pair him with Stewart instead of looking at Stewart as his replacement.

I just seeing AP looking elsewhere for someone who is probably still on a roster. Someone cheaper in a trade now that a team has drafted a new edge replacement and maybe gets cut opposed to a trade scenarios. I think he stays patient in he edge search.
 
Listening to Keim's latest podcast. He made it clear that he doesn't know. But seems like his gut is they chedk out the veteran market on edge. Talked about Za'drius Smith and Von Miller. Thinks Smith is the hotter item. He said concerns about Miller not been the same dude post his ACL surgery. But none of that seemed to be him talking to the team about it, so I gather its him speculating.

I am good with either one. Za'drius being younger, albiet still old, I gather would be more expensive.
 
Pretty sure both would be one-year deals. Peters loves one-year deals so at least none will hurt going forward.
 
It's smart to get vets on one year deals until we get to a point we have drafted their eventual replacements. I like what he does. No long term committments that create cap problems later. The cap space is freed up for us to sign guys we actually want long term.

Same, Seibert was almost perfect for a while, I thought we finally found our guy when he had the 7-kick game against New York. But that missed extra point to win the game against Dallas was really bad. I believe that was the last time he kicked for us.

Gay is a good signing. His numbers are very good and kicker has been a perennial need for this team.

On another topic, I saw the Junkies were speculating about us signing Nick Chubb. I would be surprised by this move but not opposed to it. He is one of my favorite players and was among the two or three best running backs in football for a few years.

Chubb’s been hurt for a couple seasons, but he looks to be back in shape and is still on the right side of 30. Rumor is the Bears are interested. I haven’t heard anybody but the Junkies mention us as a possible suitor.

If healthy, we could use him. Robinson has been underwhelming, Ekeler is good but on a pitch count, and we don’t have much else. I’m interested to see what JCM has, but he’s still a 7th round rookie.

Chubb was always gonna look pretty pedestrian last year given his serious injury (re-injury, really) and likely will never be the same. That was a Marcus Lattimore type of whole-knee tear. But another season removed, he might actually be getting some of that famous explosion back. Could definitely be worth a look in training camp (it’ll be obvious quickly if he’s got it back or not) and I don’t imagine it would cost much of anything. And he’s a good guy.
 
It feels wrong to want to get a guy that even the Browns don't want but shit, they didn't want Mayfield either.

For sure his injury was catastrophic, and the price may be a little high with at least Cleveland and Chicago interested in him, so it’s probably not realistic. Still he’s a fan favorite for a reason, and he was one of the best in the business when he got hurt. I would love to have him if he is healthy.
