The 2025 Draft Thread

In some of the trade-down scenarios I've run in mock drafts, I am starting to like ones where we can recoup a second for 2026.

So on ES we would do a "my guys" list. Below is my player list with the round. I had a hard time as there are a few positions that I like a bunch of players. I did not select any players that definitely wouldn't be available at 29. They are not necessarily guys specific for the Commanders, oh and I never even looked at QB's which felt awesome after all these years of studying them!

RB - Kaleb Johnson 2, TreVeyon Henderson 2, D Giddens 3-4, Tahj Brooks 5
WR - Jayden Higgins 2, Elic Ayomanor 2-3, Jaylin Noel 2-3
TE - Mason Taylor 2-3, Terrance Ferguson 4
T - Aireontae Ersary 2
G - Tate Ratledge 2-3
C - Drew Kendall 4-5
Edge - Donovan Ezeiruaku 1-2, Landon Jackson 2-3, David Walker 3-4
DT - Derrick Harmon 1-2,
LB - Demetrius Knight 2-3
S - Nick Emmanwori 1-2, Billlie Bowman 4, Hunter Wohler 6-7
CB - Jahdae Barron 1, Tre Amos 2, Nohl Wiliams 3-4

If Omarion Hampton is there and your choices are Barron or Stewart, I would definitely go Hampton. Dude is a stud. It would send a signal that we are serious about competing with the Eagles.

I used to feel that way and still love Hampton but I've gotten to like so many backs in this draft that I don't feel compelled to take one if there are players I love at more premium spots especially in the first. I am a late 2nd guy now as to RB. But Keim seems to be hinting that if they don't trade down he thinks they go late 4th for the RB. Will see.

We usually do it day before or day of so didn't plan to do it yet.

But going off of yours as a sneak preview.

I am going to be very RB heavy. I've watched this group more than any other by a mile.

For RB I got the same ones you do but will ultimately add: Skattebo, RJ Harvey.

For WR, Higgins defintiely but will have 2 different WRs. Noel would be close for me. Ayomanor definitiely not on it.

TE definitely different for me but I like the two players you have.

Guard same guy, been into Ratledge for quite some time and i got another one or two. I got to think about tackle -- I do like Conerly more than most so maybe him.

Edge: The next spot I've watched the most. I like and have mentioned plenty the guys you have. But I got to think about it some more. He's a late riser for me, just watched him yesterday, but Stewart will be on it for me.

DT - Harmon is definitely one of my guys. Heck he might be as I've mentioned here my preferred choice at 29 if they stick there.

LB - got to cram that spot its the one I watched the least. Chris Paul Jr, will be on it though

S -- I took Bowman in the board's draft, he's probably on it. Nick E. definitely won't be. Mukuba might be on it.

CB: Barron is my latest draft crush as I've mentioned. I like but don't love Amos so he won't be on it for me. I like the concept of Nohl Williams but haven't watched him yet. Hairston probably will make it for me.

Keim has a new article. Nothing major.

Thnks RB more likely late 4th.

As far as edge they've show interested in: Stewart, Oladeja, Green, M. Williams, Ezeirukau, Scourton

He mentioned Tyler Booker for the first time. CB: Amos, Hairston, Barron.

RBs usual suspects.

I have a weird schedule this week so thought I'd post the post early. I am with you on watching soooo many RBs, WRs, CBs and Edge...I could have posted 5 of each easy. There were also a few players coming back from injury that I decided against listing but really liked

Skattebo is one of the few players that made me smile. I use that as players each year that hit me special but I like the others I like slightly more moving into the NFL. I would have had him and Giddens next up. I am with you that they will hold off on taking a RB on day one.

If you told me the Commanders had to select a player with the biggest impact for them at 29, I would take Henderson. I think it's similar to a player like Jahmyr Gibbs, no one expected him to go at 12. It's the same with Henderson, he is going earlier than expected. I really like Kaleb in the 2nd for them though.

There is a scenario in which Friday night could be more interesting and active for quarterbacks than Thursday night. If fewer quarterbacks are drafted in Round 1, Rounds 2 and 3 set up to be explosive. Currently, the Browns are scheduled to hold pick No. 33, Friday night's opening selection. The Giants are next at No. 34, and the Saints are scheduled to pick No. 40 but already are making calls about trading up. In the eyes of some around the league, It's possible there could be more signal-callers selected in the first eight picks on Friday than there are in the 32 picks on Thursday.

On the other side of things, the Steelers (No. 21) are among the teams interested in moving back from their first-round slot. That list also includes the Jaguars (5), Panthers (8), 49ers (11), Falcons (15), Seahawks (18), Buccaneers (19) and Vikings (24), who currently have four picks, the fewest any team.

There has been, however, a lack of teams willing to trade up -- at least so far. Denver is one of those: The Bronco have made inquiries about moving up in Round 1, according to sources. But there aren't many others. This always could change when players start falling and teams are on the clock.

Draft weekend is also a busy time for trades of players already on rosters. Here are players on rookie contracts who could be deemed expendable:

Will Levis, QB, Titans
Treylon Burks, WR, Titans
Kayvon Thibodeaux, Edge, Giants
Evan Neal, OL, Giants
Jalin Hyatt, WR, Giants
Sam Howell, QB, Seahawks
Tyree Wilson, Edge, Raiders
Greg Newsome II, CB, Browns
Travis Etienne Jr., RB, Jaguars
Odafe Oweh, Edge, Ravens
George Pickens, WR, Steelers
Rachaad White, RB, Bucs
Kayshon Boutte, WR, Patriots

And here are veterans who could be available via trade:

Jalen Ramsey, CB, Dolphins
Jaire Alexander, CB, Packers
Kirk Cousins, QB, Falcons
Dallas Goedert, TE, Eagles
Mark Andrews, TE, Ravens
Trey Hendrickson, Edge, Bengals

SIP, those trade options and a few more that will occur as teams draft replacements for others are why I expect Terry to get his new contract before Thursday. It should give AP more cap space to work with

Yeah no problem posting early was just explaining why I am not yet. Some of that is I still have a lot more guys to watch.

As to RBs, feels like good chance they will wait to the late 4th.

Jordan Reid in his mock today had the taking Tuten in the late 4th. lol, I forgot Tuten. so he would be on my guys list, too. If the board shook out that way and we got Tuten in the 4th, I'd love it.

But if we are waiting for the late 4th.

I am guessing that pool would be Jordan James, Tahj Brooks, J. Hunter, Croskey-Marritt, O. Gordon. And am guessing one falls among: Blue, Tuten, Skattebo, Etienne. My preference would be one of those fallers and after them I'd prefer Tahj Brooks. My guess is Skattebo and Etienne more likely gone. Probably Blue and Tuten, too but one might slip.

The draft media am guessing is higher on Jordan James than scouts and lower on Tahj Brooks than scouts. Will see.

It's a shame that all of the 3rd down type backs lack ball security.
It would be amazing if Skattebo fell and they were able to get him later.

It was good to hear Tuten in an interview explain he's working on it, and will fix it.

You just want to say Rootin' Tuten

if its late 4th, keep forgetting Devin Neal. He may or may not get there but has good value in that range IMO. Brashard Smith, late 4th, not a bad one either.

Question: do we want a pre-draft "my guys" specific thread so they are easier to find rather than having them buried in this thread? Happy to start one. Or anybody else can, or it can just live in here. Whichever is easier.

Also, as I mentioned, I'm going to start a "Who would you have taken?" thread with a mini competition. I'll probably start the thread tomorrow or Wednesday. However, I want to know who we picked and at what spots so it's easy to complete a little "form."

I'll track the results, and after the season, and maybe even give out a prize to whoever came up with the best overall draft based on things like starts, games played, pro-bowls, etc.

Would I be right in thinking you don’t totally agree w/ Jeremy Green about Tuten having terrible vision?

I really like Green’s guy Tory Horton a lot. That combo of speed, ball tracking, short area movement and YAC, and on top of that a 2 year captain and he looks like a quality PR - that’s a lot of factors that seem like a great fit for us. But blocking concerns and the fact he’s projected in a dead space for us - right between our 2nd and 4th… don’t see it happening.

Green also makes it sound like Nohl Williams would be a great corner fit for us, but same problem in terms of where he’s projected to go.
