I don’t know where you live but getting to fka Fedex has been a nightmare for 30 years. Especially for those of us in VA.

I did have it down to a science when I was a season ticket holder. If you left exactly at 00:00, knew where your car was, and HUSTLED, you could get out reasonably quickly. However I would listen to traffic an hour and a half after the game and it was still clogged up. If you missed the window, you were stuck.

The fact is any venue where you pack 60,000 people into is going to cause a jam. Which is why metro access is so important. And if they are building a waterfront, maybe they can have some ferries.

We live in the Baltimore Metro area.
Full disclosure: We get there early as in "before the lots open" early & stay late, (I cook the post-tailgate hot dogs for everyone as the traffic dies down).
It's usually 35 minutes to get there, and 45 minutes home.
Unless the weather sucks, we don't rush. On the rare occasions that we do, it takes us anywhere between 1 & 1 1/2 hours to get home.
When we went to games at RFK, it took about 1 1/2 hrs to get there and 2 hrs to get home. Unfortunately, the "best" way was via E. Capital St., which is always a cluster....Our tailgates were much smaller and we never stuck around.

Fair. Living in VA, I can tell you the traffic getting from the east side of the beltway back and over the river is soul crushing if you hit it wrong.

Think PSL’s or not. Gonna be very hard without them, but HOG would be legends if they didn’t include them.

I don’t have any numbers but I imagine unlocking exorbitant valuations like 6B requires things like PSLs. I wonder if they get there without things like that.

Ditto for actually ponying up that much moolah for the stadium. At some point the dollars have to have a projection back to their pockets I would assume. PSLs are probably a certainty in a new stadium, especially with this kind of financing.

I also have a hard time believing they're getting this far without pretty much having that answer. The original report was that $2.5B was going to be covered by the team. I don't that's an arbitrary number, i would imagine they were told that is what it would take to get it done.

I believe they will get the votes needed but Congress and the City aren’t comparable exercises. Congress was saving money along with getting promised improvement money toward federal parklands. The city will have to fund hundreds of millions in infrastructure. Not exactly apples to apples.

The counter to that is VA had a celebration presser for the new Caps/Wizards stadium and then Louise who leads the budget committee in the state senate blew it the hell up.

I doubt that happens here but it’s not done until they’ve screwed in the last lightbulb

VERY true.


I personally think that presser was about leverage (which Leonsis got where DC agreed to pony up) and i for some reason don't think this is the same. That said, I'm 100% not involved and going on gut instinct so who the hell knows.

I hope you’re right and they learned from the Ted fiasco. Harris seems to know what he’s doing, but Ted isn’t an idiot either.

I was coming here to post this. Nothing this group has done has been anything less than super competent. They wouldn’t announce it if they didn’t have the votes. Can unexpected crises happen? Sure. But they think they have it cinched.
