The 2025 Draft Thread

If I recall Herbig can play some center
That is true but if a recall it was extremely limited. (He was a sneaky good signing. ) It is a reason why you have seen me mention Ratledge not only as an great fit at G but that he also has had a some minimal C experience and some analysts have a said he could make a better C down the line.

I really hope someone take Pearce ahead of 29. I don't think he will be on our board so removing a Edge needy team by taking Pearce would be great.

Ezieruaki and Egbuka feel like two solid plug and play starters for a decade that a few months ago many of us would have loved to have fall to 29. Now that its distinctly possible both could be there, we look past them to others at the same and other positions. Maybe they are boring picks, but if they take either, it won't be the wrong move. I still have Eze penciled in if they don't trade back or a crazy player drops into our laps
Jeremy Green on Take Command yesterday seemed convinced all the Pearce stuff was all being pushed by a certain team and that it’s not true.

A few of the many random tidbits he shared:
Sampson was about to set the record for most carries without a fumble, and then he fumbled something like 6 times in a month (or maybe it was 6 weeks?). Green loves him.
Tuten has zero vision.
Loves Tory Holton and Demetrius Knight.
Has serious concerns Egbuka can’t get off press. He’d be a slot only until he figures that out (if he does), so I don’t think he see him as a fit.
Really likes Nohl Williams for us.

Not sure we’ve met with any of those guys though, lol

Not sure what to make of it but judging by buzz, I think there is a chance Ezieruaku is there at 29. Ironically feels like the biggest threat is the Lions one pick ahead of us.

McShay was talking to DJ about the topic, and to summarize that and what McShay said seperately, dudes like him don't tend to take the league by storm right away. Technicians like him, tend to take time to learn the league and how to adjust to it. And it sounds like they were suggesting it might help him drop some. I notice in more mocks he's late first and even early 2nd. Will see.

But it feels like there is a shot we got Stewart, Ezieruaku at 29. I've heard multiple mock drafters say their sources with teams tell them the league is higher on Scourton and Landon Jackson than mock drafters. Sounds like ditto for JT.

Jason Greene had a good point that it is possible Hafley in GB pounds the table for Ez given he recruited him

I was listening to the podcast skinsinparadise mentioned w DJ and Brugler and both guys had Nohl Williams and Tory Horton as late Day 2/Day 3 guys they love too

Dane also mentioned Medrano who Logan has as is LB3 above Schwesinger. With 4.46 speed at 220 w loose hips, seems like he can play the Chinn role

Love hearing takes on later round guys that may be of interest. I can see the interest in Horton, Knight and Nohl, as they do fit into needs and what they like. Nohl bleeds Whitt at taking the ball away

It is a real shame if falsehoods were being spread about Pearce and if they are and he is at 29, I can't see them leaving him on the table

Judging by the draft media odds are good both dudes are there. Odds feel even better especially for Ezeirukau being there at 29 if the scouts who McGinn talked to are on the money. they got him ranked as #10 pass rusher in this group and going in the late 2nd.

If the scouts are on the money as to how it goes for edge -- JT, Scourton, Landon Jackson end up going ahead of Ezeirukau. I know Jeremy Greene who goes on Hoffman (and I love listening to Greene) says the opposite but he seems to be mostly on an island on the point.
I can see AP drafting EDGE Eze at #29 w/o hesitation but if he's gone moving down from the 1st into the second and getting an additional pick or picks.

I like Nohl a lot but I'd be hip if Parrish was taken by us in the 2nd round. I don't think Parrish makes it out of the 2nd. He possibly could but doubt it.

Yeah, that was a good point.
I’m down with Ezeiraku at 29, but my preference is a trade back. The idea of loading up on picks and being able to hit our top needs, plus “lesser” needs like LB, G/C, TE, S, punt returner, etc.

Things get interesting though if neither of those two are options and certain other guys don’t drop.

Did we meet with Egbuka or any of the top DTs?

I remember when we signed him, one of the long time BGO guys was like "as if anyone has ever heard of him" and the ole ESers were like "Um actually!" :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Great back up with a ton of starts, but gets injured, but he's start level.

My favorite fun fact about him. His first game played he came off the bench to play us. His first start the following year? Against us.

I learned a ton about the brothers when I was screaming at RonMart to draft Nick instead of Stromboli and Daniels the T-rex (which I don't call him because he had the shortest arms at the combine, but because he tanked the Wunderlich) :ROFLMAO:

I love that you, Sip, myself we kind of RonMart apologists until day 3 of that draft. So stupid. :biggrin-new:

29 is going to be CB IMO, unless they run early or Golden drops to us.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports that Minnesota OT Aireontae Ersery is a player that “teams like a lot more than the media knows.”

Rapoport suggests that Ersery could make his way into the late first round, connecting him with the tackle-needy Chiefs. Ersery performed more consistently as a run-blocker than as a blindside pass protector over the last two seasons, but notably allowed just a 3.0 percent quarterback pressure rate last year, the 10th-lowest among Power Five left tackles with at least 400 pass-protection snaps.

This is who I'd pick at 29.

lol . . . for shits n giggles i did a mock where i traded back with with KC for 31 and 95. Then traded back with Cleveland for 33, 104 and 216. Then traded 33 to the giants for 34, 105 and 219. Then traded 34 to Jacksonville for 36, 107 and 221. lol so i had: 36, 61, 95, 104, 105, 107, 128, 205, 216, 219, 221 and 245 . . . lol . . . then had some people fall and here was my draft:

#36 - Omarion Hampton RB
#61 - Tyler Warren TE
#95 - Ozzy Trapilo OT
#104 - Josaiah Stewart Edge
#105 - Andrew Mukuba S
#107 - Dylan Fairchild OG
#128 - Chimere Dike WR
#205 - Jason Marshall Jr. CB
#216 - Cam Jackson DT
#219 - Luke Lachey TE
#221 - Craig Woodson S
#245 Mac McWilliams CB

I'll listen to the new Greene podcast. and love the entertainment value he brings. But I do know he isn't always correct. Heard him on his podcast for example say that Brandon Coleman is 340 pounds. He moves well he goes for a 340 pound guy but dude he's 340 pounds so he should play guard. Nope Coleman is not 340 pounds. In that same podcast though he was very complementary to our fan base, came off like now this is his 2nd team after the Jets because of all the love he gets from his appearances.

The thing that I did which was crazier yet is I would defend Ron for picks he made in the first where I had those same players rated as 2nd rounders among other things. I loved Kyle Hamilton, JOK, Darrisaw, etc and just watched him skip all those guys for lesser prospects.

In my defense I try to give every new regime the benefit of the doubt initially. And with Ron I thought he was building up to some master plan in season 4 but when off season 4 looked absolutely ridiculous including that draft I bailed on him and became (as you did) one of this harshest critics.

I got so mad on day 3 of the draft, which is generally just an absolutely absurd behavior that is worthy of playground level ridicule, but we were totally right. That light bulb went out at the same moment for both of us I think.

Going back and looking at who the ES draft thread would have drafted, compared to who we did draft and realizing that were were far superiors was a back breaker

I wish there were more journalists that were as heavy handed, preachy, sure of themselves, wrote on a 3rd grade level, and had to give away their cringey books on their website.

Florio sucks. And I’m not saying it because he has an anti commanders slant or anything. He just sucks.
he is just a lawyer that liked football . . . he had a good site for rumors and got bought out by nbc, never was a sports guy that worked his way up . . . i like his takes when it comes to the legal aspects of things, but by football knowledge he sucks ass!!
