I don’t think he’s very good at this juncture. PFF isn’t the end all and be all, but coverage scores in the low 50’s and was just cut despite the move only saving something like 4 million. His team obviously didn’t think he was good either.

We have Lattimore who loves getting injured, Jones who might be good, might be Michael Davis 2.0, Sain who is awesome and I'd love to see him live in his spot and Iggy.

We're not far off from missing Ben St Pass Interference. If our CB4/5 is Jack Jones for a few million prove it deal, it's either a win or a push.

I think you’re under selling Jones. From what I’ve heard he’s a proven starter on some good defenses. The only issue is he’s older.

Last year his passer-rating against was over 100 I think. I saw some pretty bad stats listed from last year. I remember him being decent/good in other years, but apparently last year he had a lot of bad struggles. I don't have any context (new DC, new scheme, other issues?) but I will trust AP to make that type of call, of course balanced against need/cost/etc. I don't think he's a slam dunk decision from what I read about his last year.

^^ Sorry, I thought you were talking about *Jack Jones* -- -yes, you're right, I am excited about our new Jones too. His leadership qualities alone seem worth the price of admission. How he carries himself in a locker room. I think last two years' DB rooms could have used that-- really badly.
 
On a side note, sounds like Jones is going to primarily pay slot corner for us with Sainristil staying outside for the most part. That’s what I took away from some recent Dab Quinn comments.

I think you're right, though I thought he mixed a bit of "position flex" in there.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mikey played outside in 2 CB sets, and then bumped inside on 3 WR sets at times. Or they flip-flopped depending on the matchup.

My biggest concern with Mikey S. playing inside is while he's a very physical, willing tackler, your inside CB has to be able to help in the run game. And my guy is small. He might have somewhat better luck on the outside in run support, which might be the reason they want to keep him outside.

I could also be making that up.
 
With all the motion, I think inside and outside become less important. OC's are constantly scheming to put their best players in the slot, on the right, and the left. It's not longer static. So your corners have to be able to do it all especially when you play man.

Edit: Though I appreciate VoR's point about run support and DB size.

I just looked at his 2024 stats..Wow. He was perfect on anything inside the 50. 26/26, and equally perfect 33/33 on XPA. With a long last year of 56 it would appear that he has plenty of strength, but apparently the Colts really asked him to do a bunch of long ones. He was 3/9 on anything 50+. But, Yes, I would love to have a K with 100% accuracy on kicks inside the 50 and XPA
 
"Voice of Commanders" Bram Weinstein was all amped up about a tweet TJ. Watt sent out a post showing him flashing the peace sign. Thought he possibly could be looking for a payday or to leave Steelers. Currently (2025) one year left on deal at 21 million.

After talking to people, I'd keep an eye on this #Steelers T.J. Watt contract situation moving forward a little more closely. It doesn't appear that the IG picture (below) he posted yesterday was just by chance. I'd imagine an extension is still going to eventually get done, but the price tag just might be a tad bit higher than some anticipated.
 
I know Watt wants a new contract but what does him flashing a peace sign have to do with anything?

I guess the kids these days like to signal "peace out" that way? I shouldn't be so uncertain, having 3 under 12...

Some people are taking it to mean "Peace out" I'm prepared to leave. Personally I think its a bit of a reach.
 
Yeah, feels like it but Watt has thrown a public fit about his $$ once already which got him his current deal. So who knows.

Yeah I think they pay him, without looking it up I believe hes currently making about half what Garret and Crosby are getting......also with Hendricks contract looming it probably also plays a part.
 
He is 30 years old. That’s the only question mark…
