The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Think we’ll still see some interesting signings coming our way - corner, DE and WR are the big spots of need, though I wouldn’t be shocked by a G addition or another DT or S.

Speaking of interesting. Gallup a couple/few years removed from his ACL, and I didn’t realize he just turned 29.
 
Random thoughts. I can't shake the notion Chinn is gone because he didnt get a hand on Barkley. Last thing you see sticks with you.

BRob unfortunately seems injury prone. And then clearly lost confidence with his fumbles. But Quinn seems a big fan so think he sticks around. CRod seems in place to take over if he stumbles again. I do think we'll draft an RB but if you play fantasy you know they rarely play in year one. McNichols meh the shine wore off by mid season.
 
There should be a good RB in the 4th round and some good gambles in 7th. (

This would look really good in the draft thread. 😉
 
A little disappointed on strategy here. We have traded a lot of draft capital over the next two drafts.

Not a problem in itself because we plugged a lot to holes but for the life of me I do not understand why we are not spending more on defense right now

We have the Cap room and we can pay big on 3-4 year contracts knowing they will fall off by the time Jayden gets paid

I don’t know, the defense is pretty much a complete mess still at this moment in time
 
Rookie RB’s are some of the quickest impact young players you can draft. It’s only rare for them to play if they’re less talented depth behind a talented starter.

If we draft one in this stacked class, that certainly won’t be the case here. A rookie RB drafted in the first 5 rounds will easily see the field for us imo

Yeah, I also think they need an upgrade from Robinson.

He did some ok things last season, but he was tentative at the line, like he didn't want to get hit, had enough injuries where he wasn't reliable, and in big games/moments, he came up small.

Washington needs better at starting RB.

Gallup has been out of the league a year as he “retired” and is making a comeback now. Idk if you’ll see him signed anywhere soon, teams are doing their due diligence on him, but he could even be a vet who doesn’t sign until after week 1 when new veteran contracts are no longer guaranteed. I don’t think he’s a “normal” FA in the sense of the other guys they’re looking at, that’s why it was a workout. Updating the Rolodex, so to speak, because his file is a year out of date and his medicals are a mystery

Winners:

Washington Commanders: With the rebuild turbocharged by Jayden Daniels' transcendent debut season, which catapulted Washington all the way to the NFC Championship Game, the Commanders are going all in while the electric quarterback is on his rookie contract. It probably shouldn't be a surprise that general manager Adam Peters swung a trade for a premier left tackle in Laremy Tunsil; Peters was in San Francisco's front office when the 49ers traded for Trent Williams. That's a big talent upgrade, as was the trade to acquire wide receiver Deebo Samuel from the 49ers. The offense had little in the way of top-end talent last season beyond Daniels and WR Terry McLaurin. Daniels was sacked 47 times in 2024. With potential free-agent tackles like Ronnie Stanley re-upping with their current teams, the trade for Tunsil -- who, even into his 30s, remains one of the most durable and reliable protectors -- fills a huge need. The Commanders also addressed the defense by adding tackle Javon Kinlaw.
