I am hopeful for that but I am also aware that we only have two picks in the top 100 this year. I’d hate to force a DB pick at 29 just to fill a need.
 
Looking at the roster we are going to need a backup center at some point as well. Dont think anyone on the roster has played it before?

Couldn't disagree more.

With a franchise quarterback now in the fold, there is no more important unit on the field than the offensive line.

This team got trucked by the Eagles up front this past year and in order to protect Daniels better and allow him to pass more and run less we needed to find a franchise left tackle. That is a big add because these guys are few and far between and they usually cost top dollar to sign or a top pick to acquire in the draft.

The addition of Tunsil allows Coleman who is capable of playing in the NFL to move to a position where he will be more effective. So, that move for Tunsil is a force multiplier.

Ditto for a wideout across from Terry McLaurin. It's really difficult to find a rookie to come in and play right away as a starting WR unless you are picking high for a Nabors or Harrison type. Free agent receivers, even average ones, have been garnering top dollar this year as evidenced by Christian Kirk. Getting Deebo Samuel for a #5 pick was a steal given his productivity.

Secondary is a need as well. But the avenues to solidifying the secondary are more open. First, teams DO find safeties, even in the middle rounds, that can come in and contribute as rookies. Veterans released after the draft also are a good source of talent at the position and can be signed for more reasonable dollars then what you see at some other premium positions.

At corner I still think we haven't seen Lattimore healthy with a full offseason of work to prepare for a season play for us. He was injured when we traded for him last year and kind of pushed him onto the field to help the playoff race but he re-injured the hamstring a couple of times and had to miss time.

No doubt Peters and Quinn believe a healthy Lattimore is a top 10 player at his position in the league.

With Sainristil showing he can play that's either a budding #2 on the outside or more likely a very effective slot guy traditionally considered the #3 but now because of alignments with 3 corners now a starter.


So, in my mind we are looking at bringing in another cover corner on the outside and then adding developmental depth.

I think Peters will bring in another corner but both he and Quinn understand that taking an edge rusher in Round 1 and further solidifying the front seven is also going to pay big dividends in helping the secondary.
 

59. CB Darien Porter, Iowa State​

Porter is a rare prospect. He is a wide receiver-turned-cornerback with ideal ball skills, ranks above the 95th percentile in height and length and has an elite track background that translates to the field. He is still raw as just a one-year starter despite being a sixth-year player, but his special teams impact and sky-high potential are worth drafting in the middle rounds.

60. ED Jared Ivey, Mississippi​

Ivey is a physically gifted player with devastating power in his hands to hold the point of attack and stack and shed consistently. He lacks the speed and lower body flexibility to be a speed threat as a 4-3 defensive end, so his best fit is likely more inside for a 3-4 front that would maximize his special strength every play.

61. T Aireontae Ersery, Minnesota​

Ersery brings alluring size and length to the tackle position for the NFL. He has good hands, an explosive first step forward and quick footwork to be an impactful zone run blocker, but his naturally high-waisted build impacts his leverage and may inhibit him from keeping NFL rushers in front of him.

62. DI Omarr Norman-Lott, Tennessee​

Norman-Lott possesses more NFL potential than his snap counts and stats say; look at his grades and win rates for a clearer picture. He is an athletically gifted, undersized 3-technique who with better hand usage and pass-rush plans can be a contributing starter.

63. CB Azareye'h Thomas, Florida State​

Thomas is a long, quick-footed press-man cornerback who showcases good natural movement skills and playmaker instincts. He lacks some strength in a few areas, but he plays the position with high intelligence to be a scheme-versatile CB2 projection for the NFL.

It will be interesting how the board runs.

We COULD draft a cornerback in Round 1 if we go through the prospects and anticipate an edge rusher we want will likely be there with the #2 pick.

Although it's more likely we do take a corner in Round 2 or trade down and take additional DBs in Rounds 3-4.
 
And the LAST thing we should ever do is trade during the draft with Howie Roseman to help him assemble a secondary that beats us.
 
Wow, that is a shocking trade--but CJGJ doesn't stay places for long--he's an asshole. Green is awful, although Stoutland is the best in the game so, it will be interesting to watch.
 
Eagles going to simply keep their trenches stacked, run the ball and get after the QB. They have two young Corners as well.

and we don't have to expend the same amount of effort chipping both sides of the line and sacrifice play design/timing...allegedly.
 
I still think we should trade for Hendrickson. In general, I’m not in favor of giving up so much draft capital. But if we grab Hendrickson, we then have an outstanding QB, LT, WR, Edge, and maybe QB depending on Lattimore. And we have some very good pieces around that. IMO, that would be a market reset to catch our roster back up to where it should be after years of Ron Rivera drafts. It gets our roster to where we actually should be able to compete with any other roster, and then we can start focusing much more heavily on the draft to keep a pipeline of young, cheap talent, in the future.

Also, we are currently $110 million under the cap next year. We have room to play with.

Not sure that I’d consider signing Kinlaw as throwing their chips on the table to stop the run. I hear you though that we need help in the secondary, and I’m sure the FO sees the same. There’s still plenty of time and multiple avenues to do so though. And bear in mind that St Juste and Mike Davis were our outside corners for the bulk of the season… we (almost certainly) already have a major upgrade in place already with Lattimore. We could use a quality #2 or slot corner and/or depth though, but we’re only through the first day of FA.
At SS, there are still FAs, we have the in-house possibilities of moving Quan to SS, as well as Hampton/Owens, some FA options, and then the draft. Chinn was unheralded when we signed him last year, so maybe they can repeat that?

Not a foregone conclusion the secondary will be better, but no reason to stress it quite yet IMO.

would love to get Hendrickson...but only if we can do it for a pick swap of some sorts. our 1st for Hendrickson and a 3rd and a 6th/7th or something like that. I doubt Cincy would want to do that. I just wanna end up with two 3rds, two 4ths, and a handful of other picks at the end of the draft.

Was gonna say the same thing. I'm willing to move out of the 1st for him, but I'd want picks coming back. I like what they've done, but we need to keep the steady supply of rookies coming into the organization if we are gonna turn over the roster effectively before we have to pay Jayden.

yeah, i figure we're gonna trade our 1st and 2nd for more picks, more likely than not, anyway. if we can come away with tunsil, Hendrickson, deebo, and lattimore and still have two 3rds, two 4ths, and like 4 or 5 picks between the 5th and 7th rounds, I'd be ecstatic. I don't wanna totally abandon filling the depth chart with young people to offset the vets.
