The 2025 Free Agency Thread

Hendricson is top notch.
Cincy made a mistake by not signing or tagging Hendrickson, instead choosing Higgins.

Sources: #Bengals All-Pro DE Trey Hendrickson traveled today to Cincinnati and met with members of the organization, and made it clear he’d be appreciative if they grant him permission to seek a trade — which they finally did after two years of failed negotiations. The #Commanders are among several teams who would be interested in trading for him, per sources.

I think this makes him harder for the Browns to include in a package deal for Garrett?

Also, count me out on Bosa, etc. I think signed a lot of older vets last year to help set the culture for a team with a lot of turnover, a rookie QB, a big rookie class, and a new coaching staff.

I don’t think signing a bunch of 32 to 35 year olds is going to be our new norm. Jayden is young. We don’t need to sacrifice the future for this year.

I actually think now would be a good time to sign high end older FAs who could make an impact for a couple of years while we also draft for the future. We have JD on a rookie deal for the next 3 years (though if his trajectory stays the same, we'll likely extend him after the 2026 season). We might as well take advantage of having him on a rookie deal before we have to sign him to a massive record breaking contract while we can. Because once we pay JD whatever salary he'll likely command, it will make it harder to get top FAs, or even extend our own players.

How much draft capital would it cost to get Hendrickson? I’m assuming he could weigh in on where he wants to go, by threatening to refuse to sign an extension.

Dudes a baller but what is fair compensation? They didn't tag him as they did Higgins but I'd think the price is going to be somewhat steep as it should be. He's a year older than Garrett at 30, not old but up there. He's got one year left on his deal and Garrett has two years left on his. Hmmm. Both are proven players but AP has his eyes on Hendrickson. Wow.

Using a player/trade simulator (NFL Draft Buzz) I was able to send our 2nd round pick this year and next year's 2nd rounder for Hendrickson. Only tool I know of to try and gauge it. There are better tools out there.

Wow on that Kirk trade. I thought they released him?

Hopefully a team will come a calling so we can get something for Jon Allen too.
