Anyone who remembers me from ES knows I can take a 20-cent pack of ramen and make it awesome at halftime (kinda like a lucky thing). I'm on the cheap nowadays, but a pack of sirimi with some broccoli and shrooms is just fine. Spiced it up, of course.

If anyone gets anything from Popeye's, make sure to ask for the packets of "Cajun Sprinkle". That shit is magic, and works on everything. Dude in the drive-thru & I talked about how much stuff we put it on.

One of the best cookbooks I had, which finally fell apart after so much use, was one I bought when this door to door cookbook salesman stopped by my office. This was in the late 80's.

I am intrigued by this "Cajun Sprinkle". Is it like that crack in a bottle Chic fil A sauce that is sold in stores and people guzzle straight out of the bottle?

It is!!!
No lie, I put it on a burger the other night (which I would normally do on the Foreman with basic stuff, worchestershire, garlic, and alot of pepper) but that shit made it all awesome.
Threw some shrooms, green peppers and red onions, Swiss. Mashed potatoes got it too.
I'm addicted.

My local Walmart grocery (not the full store) has CC Mambo sauce...mmmmmmmm.

It's a sprinkle in packets, not a sauce. I get a plain chicken sandwich with extra pickles occasionally & ask for sprinkle packets. They give me a ton of 'em, and I mix it in mayo at home for the sandwich...other packets go on everything else.
They're free. ;)
 
When I was young and living in a group house my roommates were from Rochester and up there there is this place to get roasted chicken with this amazing sauce, Sal's Birdland. One of my roommates purchased a case of this sauce and then went to Alaska. I liked it so much I started guzzling it from the jar. Before he returned I had to replace it so I got some and then continued to get it for 20 years.

This conversation reminded me to look for it again. Found it on Amazon but for some reason it's like $40 for 2 twelve ounce bottles. The $8/bottle orders added $10 in shipping. I remember loving the stuff but I can't pay $18/bottle out of principal.

True....but.....don't you have buy something at Popeye's to get it? I'm really just messin' with you.....I wouldn't buy any of those ingredients just to make that seasoning......but those are all staples in our pantry. I'll have to make some and try it out next time I do Cajun style chicken tenders...

I don't have sage, paprika, or cayenne pepper.
And sometimes I just walk in & say "Can I get some sparkle stuff?" and they give me a handful. It's in front of the grocery store I go to about a mile away.

Understood. We help out an elderly widowed friend of our as much as possible, mainly with meals. She's 78 years old, and not completely broke, but she has to watch every penny and works part-time at a low-paying jobs to help her make ends meet. Since it's just the two of us, and we make extra to share. During Covid, we did all of her grocery shopping because she was too frightened to go out. Sad thing is, her POS adult children, (she has 4 of them), did not lift a finger to help. It drives us nuts...because she was a stay-at-home Mom who doted on those little fuckers. I digress. I hope that your circumstances change for the better and I really admire your upbeat attitude!
 
I don't want to say anything, but that sounds a lot like a situation we had here in Brookeville....
 
My husband's suicide was just before Covid hit here. We both knew about it in China, I just didn't think it would cross both oceans.
I spent a ton of his 401k money(that wasn't large to any degree) helping others.
