Official Game Thread - NFC CHAMPIONSHIP - Commanders @ Eagles

I get why the Eagles are favored, it’s their house for the NFC Championship, in familiar territory for them. Our team is here for the first time since before the current players were even born.

What the media isn’t taking into acount is how much momentum plays into these games. How much heart and coaching comes into play. The biggest and strongest don’t always win the race. Superior talent is important but it’s not the only element that makes a winner. I like the human factor that our team displays. They truly are a family fighting for each other. They bring out the best in each other. “40 (52) men together can’t lose”

Personally, I like our chances.
 
JD plays free and is trusted to run real offensive plays on 4th down anywhere past the 50 yard line, as a rookie. He also succeeds almost every single time.

hurtz is in bubble wrap after 5+ seasons in the league and is only given the ball on 4th and short when 2 dudes push his ass forward like a stalled vehicle.

I also like our chances.

I think Vic will test the waters early (no Cosmi) by rushing 4 and testing out our OL. Show blitz to cause confusion and back off. Instead of blitzing try the Detroit approach and deploy Daniels double spies. See how things go but I do expect far more blitzing than the 1st game. First time around JD5 had the ribs IIRC which presume influenced Vics game plan.

I would like to see us in hurry up with no subs more often - true hurry up - try to gas Jalen and get him off the field if possible. Make him run sideline to sideline.
 
It's very simple. Focus on our team and our game. Ignore all the outside BS. We go play another game armed with great scouting, a great game plan and with a few tricks up our sleeves.

Just go kick their teeth in and don't take our feet off their necks. We can beat this team at home. Be disciplined and execute. HAIL!!!

If we're very lucky, we are seeing the beginning of the formation of those memories for this generation. Daniels already has a couple of plays that fan can reminisce about twenty years from now.

"Oh, I knew he was something when with twelve broken ribs, Daniels avoided the pass rush, danced around for ten seconds and then heaved a perfect Hail Marry that got volleyballed to that Smurf Charlie Brown!"
 
Last weekend I was shocked and ecstatic to have won, I did not expect us to win the Conference championship game regardless of opponent. Didn't matter I was already beyond ecstatic. But now, the reality of THIS team this year and all of the chemistry is starting to make me believe there's still a win or two left this year. This isn't 1991 where we had the best talent and best coaching strategy, this is 2025 where all we have is Chutzpah, but we have an awful lot of it.
 
i am feeling good about beating the eagles... the strategy IMO that makes the most sense is:
1. sell out to stop the run
2. play man coverage and pray our corners can limit Phili pass catchers to average production
3. Ball out on O ... and continue going for it on every 4th <3 1-49yds and every 4th <10 at 51+ yds

take on chiefs in the superbowl.. lets make it happen!

They figured out how to gash the Commanders in the 4th quarter of the first game.
It took us until the 3rd quarter of the second game to figure out how to stop it.
It involved getting the right personnel groupings.
The defense will be ready for Saquon in this game.

We want Jalen Hurts to have to make plays.
The key is to still contain Jalen and make sure he doesn't step up in the pocket and scramble up the A gap.

Take advantage of the opportunities when it presents itself on defense.

Catch balls that hit you on the hands.

And we are off to New Orleans.

I think it was more because Hurts was out so we got to play 11 on 10 football vs 11 on 11 football. We may potentially get to do that again this week if Hurts is hobbled and is not running. I expect Quinn and Whitt to dare Hurts to run early on.
 
Hopefully Hurtz doesn't get jacked up too bad in this game, the other dude was playing better than he was lol.

If Washington makes it to the Super Bowl, maybe even wins it, nobody will care about a bunch of whiny eagles fans offseason "If...if...ifs".

You’re not wrong, I get your point 100%.

I also honestly don’t care. Not to be too blunt but any opponent can complain about anything, I know I don’t have to tell you that we have been dealing with all of the things that could work against us, preventing us to put our best effort forward, for 3 decades. It’s about time we find ourselves with a little bit of ‘puck luck’ go our way where we catch a team at the right time and finally take advantage of it.

I agree with you, I want to win, and I want to leave no room for the nonsense, but I also wouldn’t mind a little love from the football gods 😏
 
Jalen and Mitchell practiced yesterday - limited. They are in.

However, Goedert (ankle) and their center Jurgens (back) missed practice. Guess who their back up is? Nick "Swinging Door" Gates.

Shooting A gaps high pressure stunts blitzing... bring it Whitt. Lets test out that wonky knee of Jalen's. They are hurting up the middle and I smell green blood.
 
This game scares me in that it reminds me a little of the 1983 season where we came from behind in the regular season against the Raiders in week 5 to barely win 37-35 but then got blown out by that same team in the Super Bowl 38-9. That Theismann team seemed too confident going into the SB and I always wondered if that was because of their earlier come from behind win.

I hope I'm wrong, but this is the only bad feeling I have for Sunday.

I think (or hope) it's only we fans sounding/gettng this overconfident.

Yours is the warning I gave before the Dallas game when everyone was calling it a gimmee and saying how we would crush the Cowboys. I expect Sunday to be hard. I expect the team to have to fight and use every ounce of their will. We are better than our parts and we can do it, but it's going to be an uphill battle.
