Official Game Thread - Week 18 - Commanders @ Cowboys

I’m going to be at the airport in the morning - will be able to watch the first half from the lounge. Hopefully we have this nicely wrapped up by halftime (fat chance!)

I will be surprised if the Cowboys do play Lance - don’t know why they would. He’s a free agent after this season and it’s hard to see them bringing him back. So why play him?

Aside from seeding, here's my pedantic reason for wanting to see a win...

The team and media have made a lot of nosie about reaching 11 wins, which is our "best season since 1991". Well, you have to adjust for the fact that we have 17-game seasons now. Even though Dallas is our last game, the Titans are our 17th game (a one-off inter-conference opponent). Since we beat them, I'm viewing our "16 game equivalent" record as 10-5 with one game left. If we lose, I'd view our season as 10-6 with the extra win, which would be our best record since 2012 but not '91. If we win, I'd feel better about claiming this is our best regular season since 1991. :)

will #24 be starting at CB tomorrow? I had to look him up. His name is Michael Davis.

I saw on the internet that Lattimore should be ready by the playoffs. I laughed out loud.

Yeah, from their perspective this makes no sense. If they wanted to see what they had in Lance, the time to do that was 2 games ago when they were eliminated. If he plays well, are they going to resign him for one game where he plays well? If he plays well in multiple games, that’s different. But since when have they known what to do.

He has really been missed. I hope he is ok concussion wise but he does seem very intelligent and thoughtful.

Austin coming back is big. He is a big part of our offense.

And for some reason John Keim’s image in the tweet makes me think of the Tecmo Super Bowl game when the players came back from injury running from the hospital to the stadium.

won’t be able to watch today. Stuck riding horses to a private hot springs in the rainforests of Costa Rica. Please root extra hard for me today. Looking forward to reading a recap later this afternoon.
At least you'll be warm!

Your definition of “stuck doing something” and mine are very different.

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around what is right in front of my eyes these days. My team with a great GM, awesome coaching staff, a franchise star QB who has only glimpsed what he can be, winning games in dramatic fashion, and having locked up a playoff appearance in year one with a game to go.

It's hard to know how to feel... it's obviously ecstasy but also a little shocking and bewildering.

I know, right. This is like me complaining, about how I'd like to watch this game today, but ...
I'm stuck going out with Gal Gadot.
I mean, she is married with children. But if you prefer attending a Gadot family outing instead of watching a partially meaningful Skins game, I guess that’s on you.

:p

Btw, if this hasn’t been said: keys to the game - don’t kick anything to Turpin. Ever. Kick it out of the end zone or out of bounds or out of the stadium or whatever.

Do NOT let that man return didly poo.

It's been since the early 80's since this fanbase has experienced this.

It's why I've had so hard of a time this season buying into the team and it's QB.

Joe Theismann was the last QB that gave the Redskins multiple seasons of above average QB play. We've all experienced the ups and downs of the QB position here.

The hot rookie getting noticed around the league.
The journeyman that gives us a 5/6 game stretch where you think the team can build on this and make it work or the young guy that has a stretch of games where you think he might pan out.
But in the end, the fans always seemed to get the rug jerked out from under them when either they regressed or a catastrophic injury snuffed them out.

So #5 comes along and as soon as he starts to get noticed around the league, you can understand the feeling of waiting for the other shoe to drop.
I still cringe when I hear the national sports media heap praise on him. Even worse? When the local DC media goes over the top on him. It feels like we're playing with fire.

Don't get me wrong. I enjoy watching him play. I want the Front Office to build him a good line and a good running game to take some of the load off of him because I want him to last and get better.
Would you believe that last night I was looking up the Oline class for this Spring's draft? lol

Maybe it's apart of getting older and being more measured and understanding the mistakes of the past with this club that tempers expectations?

Either way, we have a game in Dallas today and hopefully they remember what happened last time and handle their business to the point that maybe #5 doesn't play the fourth quarter?

Here's to a stress free game today...
