What's for Dinner?

Hot thick sliced corned beef and lotsa swiss on rye, Dijon on the side. Grillos classic dill pickles as well.

Having been in the food/bev biz for 40 years, I know how to make cheap shit good.
Frozen $1 pizza? I got that. Add whatever you've got.
And sometimes, you just need a $1 pot pie. I love them. They're actually half decent in the mic with the way they make 'em now.
When I was a kid my friend up the road made a snack he named a cheese dooey. Bread, ketchup and sliced cheddar under a broiler was an instant homemade pizza snack. He would be happy to know that I still make them to this day.

My favorite deli sandwich is hot pastrami and swiss with a little onion and thousand island on rye. If they don't have pastrami corned beef is fine.

If anyone has a Jason's Deli nearby:
They have a sandwich that I hate the name of, but it's fabulous...the NY Yankee...roast beef and corned beef on rye. I order it dry with au jus on the side, add the mustard at home.
Their chicken salad is amazeballs too.

Finding good NY Jewish deli food is damn near impossible for me unless I drive 30m plus. I just cooked my own corned beef today

Well when you live in a small town like Mt Airy you don't get places like Jason's Deli. But we do have a small bistro and they have a BLT with BBQ shrimp on a really good roll and it's the best sandwich in town.

That sounds awesome!
I got ripped on ES for this: my favorite bar has a BLT&A...avocado...I add cheddar and onion, making it a BLTACO.

I know this sounds stupid but I recently discovered avacodo. I mean I loved guac but never really bought too many avacados. Now avacado toast in in my routine, sometimes with a fried egg and some really good chedder. As I said I don't really like homemade sandwiches anymore, but with avocado a turkey sandwich is much better.

My favorite way to eat avocado is to grill it. Slice the avocados in half and remove the seed. Score the flesh (tic tack toe style). Make a marinade with some olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, and salt and pepper and fill each avocado half with it. Grill for 2 - 3 minutes per side until you have grill marks. Hit them with some more of the marinade as they are coming off the grill. Really really good.

I live in a very very very Latino area, and finding avocados "ready" to eat is difficult. They're always 3-4 days out and I hate that.

Do you grill the open side and then fill the cavaty when you flip it over? I don't see how the filling wouldn't fall out if you filled before grilling. This does look excellent, thanks.

It does fall out lol. I just put the marinade in beforehand so it soaks it up. Probably best thing to do is pre-marinate, then empty it out into your serving dish before putting them on the grill, then recoat/refill them once you pull them off.

I've been looking for a reason to use the applause emoji. Do you wait until the avocado is ripe or still a bit hard?
