Liquor, Beer, Wine & Cocktails.....What do you like & what are you drinking?

I went to my cancer dr a few days ago and was told that they can't see anything but scars from the dead cancer so I decided to celebrate by getting some new bottles for the collection.

Ogd and the Barrell are both very good but I wasn't as impressed with the eagle rare. It kind of reminds me of the cheap EW100 that I can get for 20 bucks but the eagle rare has a weird sweet finish that some might like but I don't yet..

Maybe it's just me.

I finally found the Ogd for about 35 bucks in Georgia. The Chattanooga store I go to sells it for 50. I have a feeling that I'll be buying more of this one. It's just the taste that I like. Same with the Barrell. It's worth the price of 80 bucks.

I love Eagle Rare but it's pretty mild and I think it has some vanilla overtones which is probably the 'sweetness' you are referring to. Haven't tried the other 2.

The Barrell is 125 proof, I love it but my son almost choked on it lol.

I told him to keep it elevated on his tongue for about 30 seconds until it warms in your mouth, then swallow, thats how I taste whiskey. I don't like to swallow cold whiskey.

That stuff isn't that strong if you drink it like that but he probably doesn't understand what I'm talking about since he doesn't drink much.

I don't like my bourbon cold, I'm totally a 'neat' guy. I also like a 'Kentucky Kiss' (that burn you feel from a stronger bourbon).

Yeah I'm the same, I never mix it or add ice.

I tried it a couple times but I just don't like it or maybe I don't know what I'm doing.

I guess I should figure something out to mix some of the crap whiskey I end up not drinking though.

I like high proof but smooth. Skins FTW let the Eagle sit a few weeks. I’ve found fresh cracks can taste much different after they have been open awhile. Or it may just not be your jam.

So you are saying that I should leave it open? Or just the fact that I've opened it should help?

This ought to help us feel warm at the tailgate tomorrow...

Just the fact that you opened may help. ER10 isn't my thing...the only thing that makes it drinkable to me is adding a splash of Stagg Jr to it....

No you don’t have to leave the top off. Just breaking the seal will do.

Great news on from your doctor!!

OGD114 is excellent whiskey and the biggest bargain for barrel proof bourbon out there. It flies under the radar, and I hope it continues to do so. We get it for ~ $30.00 around here, (Baltimore metro area), and sometimes cheaper...

The JD bourbon is just Ok to me. It has a little too much hug for me. I prefer the JD rye if I’m drinking JD.

JD is about an hour from where I live. Chattanooga Whiskey is about 30 minutes. I probably should go check those places out. I've never bought JD but I probably should try some of that Barrel Proof out.

Also the Arnold AFB is right there too so I might be able to find some good deals on the base.

Rick, make sure to get this when it is up for sale. There will be limited barrel proof and more 100 proof.

The barrel proof, bourbon and rye, are my favorite JD products, with the rye having the slight edge. The bonded rye is good too...

Victory pour & bottle kill with leftover tailgate whiskey.
Mrs. Skinsfan and I are still thawing out, but it was worth it!

One of my favorite Holiday beers...
