I was mostly a lurker in the Es stadium because the sheer activity made it hard for me to participate in conversations. I’d make a comment, go in a meeting, hour later go see there’s several responses I’d normally respond back to, but also there’s 200 new posts and the subjects changed 3 time.

I was only really active in the political threads because I could follow them better with a small group of active posters

That's one of the reasons I opposed the mega threads. ES had a few catchall threads that just spun wildly out of control. They do that here to, but with fewer postings subjects like Random Commanders Thoughts still work. If the traffic shoots up I think more varied and specific topics are better.

I like reading and listening to people. That's it, mostly. Also, if I see a post that echoes my thoughts on a a subject, I will usually let that stand rather than add my own two cents.

Welcome, it's pretty busy around here as well so you won't be missing anything.
 
Welcome everybody. We encourage thread starting for the reasons you guys have cited. As long as it's not an exact duplicate of an existing thread, go for it! And if you make an error and create a redundant thread, we may or may not merge it with an existing one, but it's certainly not something we're going to get in a wad over :)
 
Other than the political stuff, I would be surprised if you all had a favorite thread that we don't have in some form or another. And if we don't - start one.
