I don't think Cleveland would make that deal.
But I agree with the argument that teams are not getting #1 or #2 dratt picks for these trade deadline deals.
Most clubs are looking to acquire solid veterans that fill a hole and selling teams are looking to get some value for guys that are likely not be back in 2025.
When I see folks talk about not trading away the future, I don't think sending a #5 pick or similar for a veteran to help us in 2024 is mortgaging the future.
We can't be so cap obsessed that we basically cede the NFC East to the emerging Eagles given the season Daniels and the team have had.
If you hit on Daniels at quarterback and Coleman at left tackle, that takes TWO of the most expensive positions in the NFL off the table in re the cap for the next 2-3 years.
So, let's not freak about trading a middle round pick as if it somehow means we aren't going to be able to bring in talent in 2025.
