Bulldog
The Legend
It's not up to us as Boone said.
At the same time I find it hard to believe sitting at 7-2 and having a realistic chance of competing with the Eagles for the division in 2024, that Washington would be so rigid one way or another to pass up a move or two that could help beat the Eagles in our head to head matchups.
Peters is about building through the draft. But as we saw in Denver and SF where the accent of the football operation was on April, that didn't mean there weren't exceptions, times when an advantageous situation arose to improve the team at reasonable cost through trade or other means.
The other factor here is the existence of a trade deadline market halfway through the season is a relatively new phenomenon in the NFL.
In the past, we rarely saw teams trade players during the season but the past 2-3 years the NFL has become a bit more like major league baseball or the NHL where deadline deals for rental vets or players looking to go to teams still on contention for the playoffs has become much more common.
So, in that regard I am not sure looking back at what a GM or AGM said 5 or 6 years ago about personnel strategy may no longer reflect the same viewpoints in total.
I have absolutely no doubt that Adam Peters is NOT trading our #1 or #2 pick in next year's draft.
We also aren't going to take on a player who is owed a load of future monies based on his current contract.
But otherwise? No on really knows.
