Random Commanders Thoughts

Boy am I sick of looking at the NFL schedule and seeing the Jets for the second year on every national broadcast slot.

A 41 year old quarterback, 35 and 33 year old offensive tackles and a 32 year old receiver are not going to elevate a team to the Super Bowl.

Meanwhile one of the quarterbacks the owner said needed to go, Sam Darnold, is in the top 5 passing stats in the league.

Typical Jets dumpster fire.

These guys belong on the 1pm regional game every Sunday.

Giants have gotten a weirdly high number of pre time games, too

Giants are the NY media market so I can understand their scheduling.

Also the East games bring in Dallas and the Eagles who have a wide following.

The Jets have always been the red headed step child in NY.

And with the departure of Belichick the AFC East isn’t very sexy as a draw.

The Giants with Daniel Jones and without Barkley deserve no prime time games.

Sorry, it's just obviously going to be hilarious.

Again, I don't think its the Giants alone but who they are playing that is a factor.

The NFC East has always been the crown jewel of the NFL. There have been teams like the 49ers, Steelers, Patriots and Chiefs that had dynasty teams, but for the overall history of the Cowboys, Washington, Philly and NY - there are more Super Bowl wins and appearances there than in any other division, with major media markets.'

The AFC East for example has been ALL about the Patriots.

Another team in the division hasn't won a Super bowl since Miami in 1974.

I feel ya, but I'm not looking past a single team. While everything points to us destroying them, ya just never know. Look at the Ravens this past Sunday...

The way teams take the Giants out is to rush Daniel Jones and force early mistakes.

Jack Del Rio's defenses played 7 deep and never pressured him and that's one reason his stats against Washington are much better than they are against other teams.

I think Joe Whitt Jr. started to figure out after the Bengals game that our defense was not going to be able to hold up in coverage and started to bring more pressure each week.

Fowler, Luvu and Payne inside have looked a lot better the past few games.

Ironically, the way to LOSE to the Giants is to give Daniel Jones TOO MUCH respect.

We just rewatched the Bears game. The amount of pressure the 'bad' Washington defense got on Caleb Williams was astounding. We need a similar effort against Daniel Jones.

Remember, Chicago was supposed to have by far the better offense going into the season.

IMO Caleb creates his own pressure by being an inferior QB.

Luckily for us, Daniels does the same. At least for the other 30 teams in the NFL. For us he typically plays like some combination of Mahomes, Michael Vick and Joe Montana.

Though I put a lot of his former success on Jack being a moron.

Ok, I must have missed the bong being passed.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

:buttkick:

I mean, our QB is Daniels, right?

They don't call them bong's nowadays. They are water pipes according to the head shops. :p

I was almost kicked out of one of those head shops because I kept saying bong accidently. I miss the good ol days.

That was the one knock on Chicago. They had the weapons and their QB but OL was suspect.

Where is what surprises me. Even with how many injuries David Bakhtiari has had over the years, nobody as far as I know had even had him in for a workout. Same with old man Patrick Peterson. When we didn't sign Gilmore this summer (surprised me), I thought we'd take someone like Peterson to show our guys how to be a professional CB.

I don't know.

We want Jax to beat Philly (Obviously) and GB to beat the Lions in the late window. Neither seem terribly likely.

If GB wins, we are in a tie in the loss column with GB and the Lions with 2 losses for best in the NFC.

Even if the Eagles win (likely) this is still pretty pretty....

It's amazing the tentacles of the Forbes pick. I think there might have been some hubris going on with Quinn, Whitt and company feeling they could "fix" Forbes. So they signed some rotational pieces. Then found out they couldn't fix Forbes. So now they have a very average, handsy CB trying to play the #1 CB position, had to move their nickel CB outside, and mess up all kinds of players and positions.

Peters will certainly be looking for new CBs for next season, but to salvage the defense for this season, they need one now.
