Official Game Thread ~* PRESEASON *~ Week 1: Panthers @ Commanders

Alright guys. It's been 4 months since the draft. It's time we got these guys names right.

It's Brian R-O-B-I-N-S-O-N Jr.

Learn it.
Know it.
Live it.

:)

I think we did have a Brian Johnson though - wasn't that the Va Tech kicker we waived?

Actually I got it right.
But my post was a bit cryptic, so I can understand how it would be misunderstood :)
I was referring to Brian Johnson, the kicker. Before the game, in one of these threads I posted how I preferred him over Slye ; based on their comparitive 2021 performances.
Then, when Slye misses his very first PAT, an easy kick with no pressure ; my first thought was Brian Johnson.

And I got the Carolina broadcasters, who are very familiar with Slye from his Carolina days. And their words also, re-affirmed my belief we may have made the wrong choice between Slye and Johnson. And then Rivera chose to go for 2 points at the end. Part of that was Ron going for the win. But maybe part of it was his hesitancy to rely on Slye to tie the game
So, basically without even playing last night, a certain Brian Johnson gained even more stock in my books.

My ONLY comment is that i believe Rivera went for two because NEITHER coach wants to go to OT in a preseason game. XP would have tied it with <3 min to go. 2 pointer meant no tie was in order.

To your point though, i just went back and looked... the snap was low, but it was definitely handled and put down in time. Slye didn't have to break his stride at all and he got a solid strike on the ball... he just hooked it.

Not a great start for a LB corps that was not addressed

It looks like preseason OT was eliminated last year...

I kind of hate it to be honest. If you are going to have a 'game', there needs to be a winner. If you're worried about injuries, cut the preseason down to 2 or 3 games.
