The Wentz move is the same sort of thing - he is likely a bit better than Heinicke, but to trade away two Day 2 picks for that...is it really worth it?
I'm not sitting here today with Wentz and Heinicke on the roster and definitively thinking that this team is any closer to greatness.
That's a problem, especially with Day 2 picks flying out the window in the process.
The move for Wentz makes no sense given the performance of the roster last season.Agreed.
But the question becomes, is he currently in Rivera's ear to start winning ballgames? Was the Wentz move reactionary as a result of limited options available in the QB market and increase heat/pressure from ownership to start producing?
Is it still truly as Dan put it, a "coach-centric approach?" Or is he indirectly still pulling strings by tightening the screws on Rivera?
Wentz and dumb interceptions go hand-in-hand. He also sets his Oline up fail. Heinicke at least gets the ball out quick and decisively when he's on.The front office clearly assesses his talent differently than most fans. If they can get him playing like consistently like he did his rookie year, they may have solved the QB issue for the foreseeable future. It’s not like he’s only had the one good season. His 2021 season was flat out superior to THs and folks are saying he was bad last year.
His arm is infinitely better than Heinicke and he is a better decision-maker with the ball.
There are definitely questions about his character/leadership.
Get ready for this though. I don’t think we draft a QB in this draft, not after giving up a 3rd rounder and swapping for a lower 2nd rounder.

This should’ve been a new thread btw
I took exceptional pleasure in his ineptitude and numerous bad decisions when he was in Philly. I remember one play against the Cowboys. Wentz scrambling to the left, you think he'd throw it away...but boom he holds on to the ball and a turnover happens.Jeez SCP, did Wentz knock up one of your relatives and refuse to pay child support or something?

You know, just when you think you've seen rock bottom in stupid decisions....they go out and give up draft capital for a Qb that would probably have just been cut. And per usual, it seems as the only ones they were bidding against was...themselves.
Shouldn't surprise anyone who is still hanging around on a frayed thread but like rubbernecking at a car accident, you can't help looking at it in a stunned stupor.
Makes one wonder if Ron's first name is actually Moe? It would explain alot.
Carson Wentz is not a hot commodity. The dude was Trubisky'ing himself.I get that reaction except we don’t know who else wanted Wentz - there are a lot of teams that need a QB. I think ‘waiting for a vet to get cut’ especially a QB is mostly a fan myth/fantasy. There are almost always multiple teams sniffing around.

This is probably Dan taking it doggie style from the other owners and he basically had to give up Washington assets to another team.
So…
With Wentz taking up most of the remaining current cap space, what does that do to extensions etc of current players like Terry McLaurin?
